Is there a top-box that will mount onto the factory back plate, or to fit a top box do you have to completely remove whats there and replace with aftermarket rails and racking?
Maybe answering my own question.... is this the answer?

Bolt a monokey plate over the top of the factory shelf?
I imagine its possible to buy a top box which will fit the OEM plate, I can't remember if the OEM plate for your model year has facility for top box mounting
The link you have provided will enable you to fit Givi Monokey cases but from experience of fitting one of these to my 2009 GTR way back when I can confirm two things, first, its a bit of a pig to fit and second when fitted it is very solid
Another option is (there will be others on here who may be able to offer alternative suggestions) :-

Now, I haven't checked this site to see if one of these plates will fit your model year, I've left that for you to research, but I can say they fit easily and are quite strong, you should also consider that if you carry a pillion then these racks can slightly (only slightly) reduce the amount of space available for your pillion especially if you plan to use a top box back rest
Hope this helps
Thanks O.C - That one looks a lost smarter - will definitely investigate.
Cheers
Craig.
Kawasaki factory fit a top box using a GIVI plate bolted to the plastic Kawasaki carrier. It looks shite, and is not the most stable of platforms.
Most people using a loaded top box seem to go for the philsfarkle option. You may even find one on fleabay.
Kawasaki also do a direct replacement for the original rack plate. This one comes wth Givi Monolock points already cast into it. I fitted one earlier this year and it made the topbox completely solid
part number 999940620 I paid about £65 in March
While on this subject does anyone know if the 2016 model rack (http://www.kawasaki-shop.co.uk/p/kawasaki-47l-top-case?pp=24) plate will fit the earlier models, and will it allow the original 47L (Givi manufactured) topbox to fit direct (without having the original plastic plate bolted to the plastic carrier plate)?

Now I'm confused as your pic looks like MonoKEY fitting.

You are right that is a monokey fitment
Yup, sorry, Mine IS a Monokey fitting
But, yes these plates fit all years
Burchy, that rack looks far more substantial than the original standard one. Shame Kawasaki don't put that on to start with.
Couldn't agree more. Its listed aas available for 2016-onwards but will fit all models without modification
I have an SR410 here if anyone wants one for a few bucks. Used it for less than a year and is now boxed in my shed wanting a home.

Does anybody know if this will fit all Givi Monokey boxes? I've got a Kappa K53N (53L) that uses the Monokey fitting. Just wondering if this rack would be the right fit, and if my box is going to sit flush with the rack?
Got my GTR1400 being delivered soon, and can't wait to get riding!
I'm 100% sure it will fit. Kappa stuff comes from the same factory as Givi... and surely Monokey is Monokey :innocent:
