Hi,
Registered with this group as I'm looking out for a tourer for next spring.
I thought I'd managed to pick up a very tasty GTR1400 earlier this week but discovered it was a Fleabay scammer
So, If you see any adverts with this email address in it please don't get drawn in. ""Immaculate Condition GTR 1400,Contact us for more details and pictures at
[email protected]""
I've been trying to get the scrote to disclose his paypal details or bank sort code and account number for a few days but he's not letting on.
Have reported it to Fleabay who have characteristically done sweet FA and the scammer's classified advert is still running on item number 263295250930,
So, in the meantime, if anyone knows of any good machines coming up for sale before next spring please keep me in mind?
Thanks
Andy
Very welcome here! :punk:

Welcome, great bike, you won't be disappointed when you find the right one.
Loads of great information on here and a wealth of knowledge amongst the owners.
Definitely a scammer.

Check out Orwell motorcycles in Ipswich. Rather fetching black model with around 13k on the clock. Sorry didn't look at the price as I was out on mine and definitely not looking to part with it. They deliver as well and are currently buying in stock so part exchange would be available. Good luck with the search, when you find one you won't regret it.

Yes,
That's the one. Unusually for a scammer he seemed to know his onions and was answering all the routine questions very clearly. Soon went tits-up when negotiating payment method though.
Am looking forwards to eventually working out what's the best model and value to go for.
There seems to be a gulf between the A9F and the later 2010 series of models. Will do a bit more genning up over the weeks to come I think.
Thank you for the welcome!

Thank you for the tip! Looks like that one's moved on.
Plenty more fish in the sea though! :-)

Thanks!]
Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
Once I've had a browse around the forums I'll post a few questions about things to look out for on different models, and guidance on how to sort out common issues with second hand machines.
It looks like there's a wide range of GTR's out there from ones that have been ragged up hill and down dale to minters that get polished twice a week and never see the rain! :-)
sorry guys, but what was the obvious give away he was a scammer? as I'm on the lookout as well. you can PM me if its not a good idea to advertise where they are going wrong
Might be selling mine Andy.
If you fancy a look at it drop me a msg.
Hi Andy, It's still waiting to be sold at Orwells', or it was this morning. Might be worth giving them a call.
Enjoy your new bike
Thanks Rusty,
Picking it up from Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon before burbling back up to Lancashire.
There won't be much "burbling" ... more like light speed and vortex

Are they opening up especially for you?
:biker3: Am now officially a GTR1400 rider.
Picked up my bike yesterday at 4pm from Bournemouth kawasaki and rode back to Lancashire last night arriving just before midnight.
Conditions were a bit poor: very wet in the south with road closures due to floods; freezing fog around Taunton; worryingly little non-white covered road around Brum, and then down to -6 Degrees in Lancashire close to home. Very glad the gritters had been doing a good job!
Am looking forwards to some less inclement weather to get a better feel for what it's like!
Andy
Good man. Brave riding yesterday.
I was out on the bike myself yesterday, not quite the marathon run you put in though. Brass monkey weather. Fortunately the GTR does offer decent protection from the elements.
Enjoy the new bike Andy
A brave man riding anywhere yesterday. Hope you enjoy the GTR. Had mine a few weeks now and loving it!
Congratulations on your new bike Andy, and I'm sure you will continue to enjoy the GTR.
No chance of any ride out here at the moment as we have 6 inches of snow and our lane and side rad are only just passable with our 4 wheel drive
Enjoy the bike.
Deep respect for your trip home, it was not a good weekend. I'm sure it is frustrating not to have the weather but it is something to look forward to in the spring.
Thanks for the comments guys. In hindsight I was probably a tad :stupid: or  But, I had a debit card in my pocket and was going to stop before it got too dodgy and kip over in a travel lodge or Sunny/Days inn beside the motorway, and if I hadn't picked it up then having already booked bus tickets it would've been weeks before I got around to getting down and back again.
Apart from 50 miles across Brum that were a bit rough the other 230 were just about doable with 5 layers on top and 4 on my legs. I don't think
the GTR would be the tool of choice for an entry in this rally though! http://bsc-winter.superlative-adventure.com/bsc-winter-home-en.html. Probably more suited to my M reg DRS 650.
Here's looking forwards to some +0 deg C days and some winter sunshine!
