Title: An afternoon out in Peterborough
Post by: ray1151 on October 25, 2017, 09:41:54 AM
...at BSD performance, as we all know the emission regulations these days undermine the performance of everything with an internal combustion engine so I set out to get the damage undone. I'd already replaced the stock exhaust (Delcovic) and air filter (k&n) which had made the bike start to pop on overrun as they're set up lean from the factory, but having had my last bike (guzzi stelvio) remapped I knew there was more to it. Mark put the bike on a dyno and started to disconnect things that were messing up the engine such as the lambda sensors, he also modified the exhaust baffle.
2 hours later he was finished, the bhp went from 142 to 143 hp and the torque from 97 to 99 but that doesn't tell the story. The bike is just better, with such a powerful bike it's difficult to identify flat spots for instance as you just keep the throttle open and power thro them. It was very obvious on the ride home where the flat spots had been, everything is just better.
One thing I missed from riding V twins was the instant response wherever the revs were, got that back now.
Money well spent.
Just waiting for my low fuel warning eliminator from Brian in the US (http://www.incontrolne.com/incontrol_007.htm) and then I'm all done.
