Title: More power!
Post by: Iwingit on October 22, 2017, 08:48:24 AM
Any of you bunch fitted a power commander? Know you can never have enough power ?,if so did make any difference .
I know its not a ZZR 14 and build for ballistic top speed just want to get best out of the motor or do I need to sell up?

With a power commander you should get better power delivery and a bit more BHP, it should feel much smoother through the power range, also you can get better fuel economy if set up right, best to get it set up by a good tuning Centre.

amongst our American cousins the general consensus is that ECU flashing is the way to go rather than a Power Commander

Te most popular one seems to be the Shoodaben (https://sites.google.com/site/shoodabenengineering/concours1400)

Recommend a remap .Had mine done and transformed the bike.He removed the speed limiter so if you can push it through the air it should reach 180mph. :police:

German autobahns are good for A to B.I can sit at 120 plus in comfort and click the miles off.And still be overtaken by mercs n bmws.It all works and i feel safe. Ok it can all go wrong but so can everything.Ride safe  :2guns:

I've got a pc fitted on mine and had it set up on a dyno , it does make the 6th gear have more go , but I think why people get the impression that it needs more go is that the 6th is a overdrive , which is the same as the zzr11 was , but use 3rd and 4th more and there's more than anough go , being so smooth it's deceptive power , it is a Tourer after all ,,,

Try taking the secondary stage butterflies out  .I've done it and I run a Vance and Hines CS1  without any remapping gives  full power from the initial throttle twist

I was gonna go down that route but was not sure of it running weak. Some said yey some said nay.I thought the o2 sensors would keep the fueling right but again no one could confirm so went for the remap.I took the flies out of my 990 ktm but added a new revised map with the software i had.

Ive has no issues in regards its running,  pulls like a elephant on coke ...still getting good fuel economy when I check it .not a thing i check if it needs it .it gets it  no downside as far as i can tell in removing flies

Power delivery. The remap gives me smooth strong power from the off.Power really kicks in at about 4000 which i dont like as standard when steady touring. The map solves this issue together with a less snatchy on-off throttle.Higher gear lower rpm touring with instant power delivery. The secondary flies arnt fully open till about 4000 rpm which adds to the lack of low down power.restricting the engine. Some remove them some go for the remap which alters how and when they open together with mixture settings. My 990 KTM suffered the same symptoms but i removed the flies and was able to add a preset map myself.Great
