Hi gang,
Has anyone recently found problems with various insurance and compare websites when trying to identify your bike from its registration? At best mine is listed as a 2009 - 2010 GTR, which I would take as a MK1 (mine is a 2010 MK2) and at worst it lists as a ZZR1400. I am getting a range of quotes, starting at £100 for the GTR and anything from £700 upwards as a ZZR! There never seems to be an option for a 2010 onwards GTR. It has convinced me of one thing though.... I don't think I'd ever bother trading the bike in for a ZZR at those prices! I guess I'd have to phone the insurance companies to get the right model, or do you think it would be ok as a 2009-2010 GTR? Cheers, Mark

The Meerkats correctly identify mine as a "2008 KAWASAKI 1400 GTR Petrol" from he reg number
And at https://www.autotrader.co.uk/bikes/motorbike-history-check she is identified (again correctly) as "KAWASAKI ZG 1400 A8F 2008"
Silly question, what's yours on the V5 ?
My first GTR 2008 suffered this problem, back then insurance companies could only 'recognise ' my bike as a ZZR1400, considerable negotiations resolved the issue.
I'd have thought insurance companies would/should be better organised by now
Good point on the V5....its down as a ZG 1400 CAF. I guess that's part of the problem, it is known by too many different names. I don't recall having the problem last year though

Thats the official Kawasaki designation, 1400GTR or Concours is the nickname
Hi Mickey I know that but it seems that the insurers prefer to use the 1400 Gtr tag instead for some reason, or in my case ZZR 1400. I guess I'll just have to make some calls to the insurers instead grrr.

Tried em all with the same results. None of them list the bike correctly.

Cheapest I can get (from the Meerkats & pretty much anywhere else) is £181 (Bike is identified correctly as an 08 1400GTR)
That's fully comp SDPC for a 53 year old with 11 years no claims, 15k miles per year, pillion cover, 3 points (SP30), garaged in a M46 postcode
