Title: Mirrors
Post by: trousersnake01 on October 06, 2017, 01:31:25 AM
Has anyone ever tried raising the mirrors or fitting after market ones. The reason I ask is it's soon to become wind muff  fitting time for the winter to make my daily commute more comfortable and when fitted they always take a lot of the mirror view up. I would love to be able to lift them 6 inches

Raising the mirrors wont do what you are thinking they will, they are too far away from the bars. I fitted Acerbis guards which fit close in front of the levers and work really well to deflect cold and wet. They seem to be unique in how they fit on, not needing any mods. Just take off the bar end weights and replace with the guards plus smaller weight to make up the difference so you keep the correct designed weight at the end of each bar. The guards are rigid and dont require a second mounting point at the other end.

Seems to be a few on eBay with daytime running lights or indicators built in. Not a bad idea.

A little bit, but it depends where your eye line is in relation to bars and mirror, basically how tall you sit.  Because they can be rotated around the bar end they can be set to deflect the wind rain and minimise mirror view interference.

I run Barkbuster Storms on my F700Gs, same mounting process on the bar ends.
Never thought about  trying them on the GTR! I feel a swap /  fettle approaching!

I have just got a set of these guards. I guess you just replace the bar end with the guard? How do you add the extra weight? Any chance of a piccy?
The guard look the business and should work well.

Did you manage to fit the dual road hand guards. I bought some and can't get them  to fit. When I put them up to the bar end, the plastic fouls and snags on the lever bracket with or without additional weights.

My thoughts also. May grind the last inch off the inner end of the guards
