Title: Rusty's French Trip ... Extra Photos ......
Post by: Rusty on July 07, 2011, 09:31:44 AM
Having just finished " Nights " and with a cup of hot stuff in hand I have decided that having gone through that " I am a little tired " bit a few hours ago that now was the time to take up Mr Wolfs suggestion of more photos from France ... so here we are ...(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/SDC16030.jpg)
This was on day one, and as you can see it had just stopped raining ... it was a Tuesday morning and appeared that no one was up .. just nobody about at all (http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/SDC16046.jpg)
Now look at that DIRTY bike ... Yes NB, to me that's dirty  ;D I thought if the weather stays like this then I shall have to trade the bike in when I get home for a clean one !
Now ... what else have we got to show you ....(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/SDC16049.jpg) As you can see everyone has their kit out to dry ... remember ? Someone switched the oven on  ;D my tent is the little grey one on the left ..A North Face Tadpole 23 .. a 2 man job about 5years old and has been excellent, my brothers in fact, and he takes it to the IOM every year and then goes back for the Manx so it has had some decent milage  ;D(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/SDC16057.jpg) Ok .... Another river scene .. as you can see it was just lovely.(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/SDC16061.jpg)  Bike trip without bike pictures ??
Here we can see the Gtr draped with kit and a towel on the Top Box .. one of those small quick drying jobs, a bit like a chamois but has the ability to dry off in quick time ... amazing technology and they work very well .. buy one from any decent camping shop and no I can't remember the name ... just got home remember !(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/SDC16093.jpg)
This was another canoe place ..not the one we used... but I thought it would make a nice picture ...a bit of cloud, different coloured bright canoes and some trees ... always good !(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/SDC16103.jpg) This was down at Beynac, on the morning of a quick outing to go back and take some pics that we missed earlier ..sorry about the chap posing .. he needs help !(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/SDC16249.jpg)
Ah yes ... here we are, especially for those who like the bike with ALL the luggage on ... and I have to say I think you are right ...and in green too  ;D(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/SDC16161.jpg)
This was AFTER the Gtr had a splosh of clean water .. much better I feel .... no idea where this was but, looks good  ;D ;D
Then there was some lovely town scenery close to where we stopped off on our arduous and tiring trip down the river, so tiring indeed that we had to refresh ourselves with ice cold lager and food  ;D
(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/SDC16198.jpg)
So there you have it ... one of the guys is pooling all our photos and will edit them onto a disc/website that we then have access to ... he has plenty of time on his hands but is VERY good at that sort of stuff and the finished product is really very good. Hope you enjoyed my little extra input ... now where's that coffee gone  ;D ;D ;D

Lovely photos Mr Rusty, nothing like a foriegn jaunt with ya pals luvly jubbly.         ps  How did you go on with the top box and its mounting plate, some say it is a bit flimsy but surely the big K wouldn't have us fit something from the extras catalogue that didn't do the job would they?. ta Geoff.

Well if there is a perceived problem with the top box then I don't know about it and no one on the trip made any comment to me .... it wasn't heavy as such, just the tent, pegs, sleeping bag and paperwork ( and a few leaking bottles of beer  ;D )  I use it all the time for work too. It all appears to be ok until someone tells me otherwise !
It was, as you can see, a great trip and for a first outing the Gtr was superb  ;D

Well, compared to the Monokey box mounted as standard on the GSF1250 GT the Kawa top box seems very flimsy.
I don't know if I would confidently ride my GTR with top box fully loaded at more than 200 km/h on the Autobahn as I did with the Bandit a couple of months ago.
Monolock (Givi E470 Simply III) -  plastic base, 3kg max. load and 130 km/h top speed - Monokey - metal base, 10kg max. load and no speed limit.
I bought the thing too, but if I would have known what I know now I'd rather buy the Givi V46 (http://www.givi.co.uk/cases/monokey/V46) even though it costs more.

I've used mine for 2 years, 6 major jaunts as well as minor ones with the K 47l box.  Never had a problem, even when well overloaded weight-wise.  First couple of trips were with the plastic carrier, others have been with an aluminium one (felt it was more substantial)

Rusty, I've just been looking through these photos of yours again. Did your mate ever complete his mission of pooling all the pics and hosting them somewhere for all to view?

Yes he did and No I can't remember the site he used ... just looked and I don't have the link anymore .. a bit like these social sites where either anyone can look or you just restrict it to invited guests which is what he did ... I shall endeavour to find out but he is always hard to get hold of ... long haul BA pilot ... usually loafing on some deserted beach surrounded by gorgeous young trolly dollies ... nice  ;D ;D

Sounds almost as cushy a job as yours.  ;)
