Title: led lights
Post by: jenros on July 06, 2011, 10:56:12 PM
evening all!,
new to your forum, few weeks ago i purchased a gtr,ive just bought some "bike viz" bullet style leds. I have fitted 1 each to the underside of the mirror (the part that does not turn,ie- fixed arm). the other two i have fitted inside edge of the air intake scoop., took all afternoon  on sunday, lol!.
Now does anyone know which wire to splice into at the rear of the headlight loom????,im planning to do two on each side.
The manual i have hasent got any wiring diagrams at all,and what is the best way to get to these? is it the nose cone off job or what?
cheers guys, any help would be much appreciated, thanks, Jenros. :)

Do the lights come with a switch? I powered mine from the accessory wires.

ahhhhhhhhh! didnt think of that!, i was just going to wire them into the lights.thi s wont affect any plug in gizmos would it? i know they only pull a very small amount of power from them,.
Not very good on 12v electrics, give me house hold any time! ha ha,.
thanks, i will have a look on the weekend as im away working until then. ;)

Mine have a switch hence why I asked.

If you just want them to come on with the ignition then wire them to the accessory lead. Whats the rating of the lights? That may affect where you draw the power from. If low, then accessory leads are fine.

However, if you intend to run a lot of accessories on your bike I recommend and fuzebox

Because they are LED there is very little power consumtion. Take off the small cover under the nose cone (four press studs) there you will find two wires going to the side light bulbs, just splice into those. Remember to connect the right way around as leds will only work with the correct polarity

Thank you. I had not come across that site and it helped a lot. You were right that I really needed to see how Led Light Accessories (http://www.ledstrips8.com/led-light-accessories-c-18.html) Connector / Power Wire (http://www.ledstrips8.com/connector-/-power-wire-c-21.html) LED Power Supplies (http://www.ledstrips8.com/led-controllers-c-20.html) diodes worked and when I saw that understanding the LED was easy.
