Well my trusty bike will be gone to a new home on Friday, just in from the garage giving it a wipe over, started it up just to hear the sound again, I do like the GTR.
Done 31k miles and enjoyed every one, right across to Colditz Castle and all around France visiting the first and Second World War sites, never a hassle apart from a puncture which when I found an English guy in a garage he fixed for me while I waited for 10 euros.
To say it's been the best bike I have ever owned is an understatement, having had Fireblades, SP2, Triumph Sprints and god knows what else this thing tops the lot.
Will my new Multistrada beat it, time will tell, if it is as good then I will have a smile on my face.
I have to admit I often review some of my photos from trips I've done on the GTR, mostly Scotland, either on my own or with others from this forum, Nigel, Charlie etc and an instant smile comes on my face.
Good luck !
Guess the new bike is totally different sitting, biking...
Is it new and did you put some modifications?
So long :punk:
I reckon you'll regret it, but good luck 👍
Well you might be right, but if you don't try you will never know.
Ducati Multistrada S is my new choice, I won't be leaving here as it's a friendly forum so I will be hanging around annoying people.

Good to hear, your the reason I visited Geoff at Hilltop, now that was a good recommend
It's been 2 years now since my GTR was traded in after 8 years of GTR ownership. (Wow - that means I have been talking to some people on here for 10 years). I traded my Beloved GTR for a KTM 1290 Super Adventure. Broke my heart that day, and shed a tear....
Do I miss the GTR? Some days, some trips, some photos I see of other GTR's, when I pass a GTR coming towards me, when I see the GTR's on the Tour du France - without a doubt..... we did a lot of miles, and created a lot of memories.....
But would I go back after the KTM, no way.... weight, power, fun, toys, v twin torque, lights, dash, electronic suspension, appearance, 280-300 mile tank range, I found a new love... and this is lasting...
Good luck with the Ducati, nearly bought one, but in comparison to my KTM and the GTR, it was close..... but it's quite small and I felt I didn't have much room to move and sit in different positions.....important on long trips.

well met big al (top bloke)a week ago at motorcycle museum birmingham and did the trip home to sunny scotland. All motorway to get a little familiar with the gtr. First thing that hit me was the protection from the wind blast,it is excellent . 70mph with no buffeting does make for a less strained ride. The bike did kind of feel familiar like my cbr1100xx fully laden with luggage so was not totally alien me.
Hit traffic however and had to sit inline as i wasn't going to chance filtering with such a large width bike which i was not used to.
This did give me some wrist pain which my good friend Gary (top bloke) has kindly sent risers to install. think that will be just perfect. Managed to get her out at the weekend and try some of our good country roads and am quite surprised how well it handles v blackbird. yes the gtr is a lot heavier but can still be hustled well for such a big bike. eco mode is brilliant dont know why the mags slate the gtr for mpg? So 1st week of ownership has confirmed that she was the correct bike to go for after the blackbird. Happy i have went down the kawa gtr1400 road.
Mine's a keeper!

Oddly enough I find it easier to filter on the GTR then I did on the Bird, but that could just be cos of the oversize panniers I had fitted :)

I wish you good luck with the Multistrada ownership. I've owned one, I bought the 2015 Multistrada 1200 S DVT in September 2015 and though it was a great bike to ride and beautiful to look at I had no end of problems with it, 9000 miles and 9 months later we parted company as I was just so disapointed with it. Various recalls and let downs were just grinding me down.
3 new fuel pump/sender units fitted in the fuel tank.
1 new rear wheel due to it going out of shape.
2 new left hand switchgear, failure of various operations, indicators, cruise control.
Hopefully by now they have rectified all these faults myself and others were having.
Well nearly 4 years on.and still loving this bike. Have ridden a few other bikes but get back on the gtr and say to myself this is just perfect! Longest trip so far scotland to switzerland and Italy lake garda. Superb
Tartan - jock I was recently up your neck of the woods at the GTR meet 1400 miles in 4 day's and it never missed a beat👌.
The only one was the red Fob light on the dash it's a new battery when I squeeze the fob it goes off so the fob may be a bit loose 🤔
