As it looks like I can't make late summer meet as well as previous owners meet in Yorkshire, thought I'd see if any interest in a day meet / run again.
Suggest weekend of 23rd / 24th September, either day, weather permitting but hopefully a good autumn day!
Meet at RAF Museum, Cosford (easy to get to, jcn3 of M54, good stuff to look at and a café!) suggest early, 10:00?
Either spend the day at Cosford, (Museum free, paid parking) plenty to see, or meet up for an hour and then a ride around Shropshire / Welsh Borders, tried to encompass some good roads that will get the wear away from the tyre middles!
Suggested route attatched, copy and paste in yer browser if it doesn't hyperlink:- https://goo.gl/maps/D6EYMJNK5Sw
Google says 100 miles, 3 hrs 15 mins, so 41/2 to 5 hours max. with pic stops / comfort breaks and fodder? Do-able?
Involves Ironbridge, Burway / Long Mynd (good photo opportunities), super border roads to Crossgates Service Station, then back to Leominster another good road and back towards West Mids.
Just a suggestion - Thoughts?
Dick Snow.
We can't promise as the two weeks before we're looking after a friends camp site while she's on holiday. Pencil us in for now, it's all down to what'll need doing around home & garden when we return, if we can turn a blind eye to the back lawns and pots we may be able to make it.
Looks a nice little bimble.
Can't say at the moment due to shift patterns altering after the school holidays :shit:
Sorry, will be starting the return leg of my Croatia trip
Great to meet you and the family tonight.
The table will try and support you project.
Looking forward to meeting up again

Thanks Charlie. Hopefully planned meet / run will get some numbers, there's a Days Inn at Telford Services too far away if anyone needs digs.
Anyhow if it doesn't we'll try another time.
Pleasure to meet all today, safe rides home.
Dick, Jenny and Duke the mutt!
NB - never gonna forget u hi-five with SWMBO after she gave me the "V" from commenting on her ironing skills! 🙄 - gonna be paying for that for a while!
Firstly, thanks for persevering, it can be an impossible task trying to get something off the ground.
In principal I am up for doing something and that weekend could fit quite well (the missus is off to the Malvern Autumn Show and there is no F1 to distract me). My rear tyre is pretty damned square from the trip I have just done so I may be clunking around the corners or trying to take care of new rubber depending on how things go.....
Pete.
OK...depending on the weather for that weekend we are up for it . We're not fair weather bikers, we ride all year round, but if it's going to be cats & dogs at the beginning of the ride then that holds no favour with us. If it starts off sunny and we get rain after then that's just bad luck....so who's going to be there to support this meet.?????
Brian & Rosemary.
Much the same as Icefever - I still have the slot free for it even if there is the odd shower, but if we were going to get the left-overs of someone else's hurricane I may remain somewhere between a fitted sheet and a duvet.
Pete.
OK, two probables, only issue is I didn't specify a date, just suggested the weekend!
I can do either, although Sunday would be preferred (23rd).
How does that fit with others?
Just called the Museum, admission free, parking for up to 4 hours is £3 per bay, and get as many bikes as you can in a bay and keep ticket with you.
So, meet up and decide whether to stay and browse museum or ride out after a brew?
Primarily get the date sorted!
Thoughts?
Dick Snow
Sunday is the 24th and I think that this would be the safer option for me (sometimes have to work Saturdays).
ps I think a ride out after a coffee would be my preferred option
Thanks Bob, and apologies for date typo, yep Sunday 24th.
Any more for the Sunday?
We can do either day........but Sunday it is....(weather permitting) (http://www.sherv.net/cm/emoticons/rain/rain-cloud-smiley-emoticon.gif) (http://www.sherv.net/)
Yup have a cuppa and chew the fat....then have a ride out, but what time to meet up??? 10.00??
Aim for 10:00 - 10:30, called site earlier and café open from 10:30, so suggest meet, quick wander / brew and then hit the road at 11:00.
If route stands as is should be at Crossgates before they close at 16:00, plenty of time for brews & views!
But all open to discussion, I'll be there from 10:00, I'll post up a moby number nearer the date in case.

Just to let you know the 24th is also the big bike ride veloride a 100 mile closed route just be aware when heading for the meet hopefully it won't bother anyone going
It's causing chaos with unpassable roads and junctions
Try the link below

Thanks Tony, with those who've replied think mainly motorway will be used getting there, planned route will miss the bikes, but might be issue if planned finish at Leominster east to Kidderminster is used.
Bigger concern is what weather is supposed to be like! :undecided:

Just had a look won't affect us coming from Warwick, we'll be on M42/M6/M54....don't expect to see them on the motorways, but you never know.. :gunsmilie:

Don't look too bad at the mo...fingers crossed. :innocent:
Looking at the Cosford web site, they charge £3.00 for parking per space.
I wonder how many GTRs you can get in a single space.............
When I called up to check she said just buy a parking ticket and keep it in your pocket in case use is challenged!
So, me thinks 1 ticket for as many bays as we use!
I'll get one when I arrive, and just see how many turn up.
Ok, well I'll be in the car park at RAF Cosford Museum from 10:00 on Sunday 24th.
Signed from M54, Just off jcn 3, taking A41 towards Wolves, petrol station / Spar shop 100 yards on from traffic lights where you turn right for Museum if required.
Forecast looks fair, so hopefully there will be some interest.
I'll have a mobile with me - 07398519204 - in case contact required.
Ride out as posted in first update, 103 miles, 3:30 hours, suggest leave Cosford 11:00.
That'll be finalised on site between those who arrive!

We'll be there....as we like our Sunday dinner we're thinking that nearer the time we'll peel off and find a pub. Looking at the route it maybe around Clun or Knighton then we can head back through Ludlow/Kiddy...talk about it tomorrow.
Cheers Brian & Rosie
Still planning on getting there, although I am trapped in a loop by the Birmingham Velo - can't go East, West or South from home but I think I can escape Northwards traffic permitting.
Looking forward to it.
Pete.
Well I'm up...on my 2nd cuppa of the day...it's 12c outside so looking good. We're hitting the road at 09.00 so should make it by 10.00.
Found a pub in Clun called the White Horse, looks ok for Sunday lunch.....let the good times roll.
Brian.
What a great ride out....many thanks to Dick for putting together a very interesting route.
Rosie & I pulled into the garage at the top of the road near the Airforce museum to fill up we didn't want to have to stop later on. As we pulled in there was a guy on a GTR that turned out to be Peter so together we rode down into the carpark.
Within 10 mins both Rob and Dick turn up...making 4 bikes for the ride....off into the cafe for a cuppa and to chew the fat.

After our cuppa we took a quick look out the back at a couple of planes.....the museum will need another visit later in the year, as it was only the meeting place and there's loads to see...can't wait.

The final photo,`we tried to come up with a collective noun for a group of GTR's....any suggestions????

We then set off heading for Clun, I'd found a pub that did Sunday lunch there. After a chat, it was decided that all of us would stop off there, as the thought of food was strong.
To end the day we rode on finishing at Leominster, where we stopped at a diner, a final cuppa the sky started to darken and spots of rain fell, so we all hit the road heading for home.
What a wonderful day out....again many thanks to Dick.....here's looking forward to the next time.
Yes, thanks to all for your company,it was a pleasure to meet you.
I enjoyed my day out and look forward to the next.
Regards,
Pete.
Sounds great wish I could have been there. Nice photos too.
What a bostin' day!
Much like Brian and Rose meeting Pete in the filling station, the same thing happened to me & BrizzleBob!
4 GTR's, five folk, all out for the same thing, and with dry roads and a fair wind the day commenced!
Love the RAF museum, didn't have chance to tour the halls, but just to savour a few machines that supported GREAT Britain was a taster for a later date!
Tootle by the Iron Bridge, still amazes me how Brunel came up with that idea, and it's still there today!
Run to Church Stretton had the fantastic views towards Shrewsbury from Wenlock edge, then up the Bur Way onto the Mynd.
Great views, so nice to get the 4 steeds lined up for the pics (collective noun, suggest GORGE, derived from GORGEous!).
The drop down the Mynd towards Bishops castle was challenging, 1st gear in use to stop the beasties rolling away!
Then the A488 to Clun for lunch, (meeting mad Belgian Shepard mutt who was going take on any motorcycle!) onto Knighton, Bleddfa, to Pennybont -
wonderful piece of tarmac with twists and pitches! :sweet:
Then the A44 to final stop at Leominster, another bit of quality road, all the challenges we love - sheep, twisties, hills and good long straights.
No speed records claimed, no casualties to the strategically deposited horse manure, just very wet on the last leg home, especially when me and Pete crossed the Severn to Bridgnorth!
Great company, glad the roads were appreciated, and still got home in time to get SWMBO out for an anniversary meal! :sweatdrop:
Can't top Brians' pics, but best memories safely stored till memory loss kicks in!
I have a few videos of the route, but as no anti-shake control needless to say it can be a tad nauseating!
If needed let me know and I'll post on Youtube.
Here's to the next one!
See how I set you up for the collective noun Dick.... :mfr_lol: we'll have to get onto Oxford dictionary about it...
Thank you Dick for a wonderful day. It was nice meeting you, Pete and re-meeting Brian and Rosie. A great ride with beautiful views. My ride back was almost as lovely except it didn't have the good company. Fortunately my ride home was not really hampered by any rain bar the odd spot or two. I did get to pass the military styled 4 Counties on their return to their respective abodes - didn't you read the sheet? This is a fuel stop not a tea stop!!
Thanks again Dick for a job well done.

Those words and the way they were put across gonna stick in my memory for a while! Thought he was gonna get a right dress down! :single fuck:
Still, shows me how a group ride should be managed!
As said before, good day and pleasurable company! Thanks for turning out.
Two or three of those a year would be great, Pete mentioned possibility of one from Quatt, and what about Cheddar Gorge / Mendips (and it's your round for the brews!)
And, as mentioned, if anyones interested - http://www.nationalmotorcyclemuseum.co.uk/national-motorcycle-museum-live-2017save-the-date/
I'm off shift that day so highly probable as never been there!
Gotta go and clean the beast, minging after mud covered roads and rain!
Glad it all went well and all enjoyed themselves
Sorry I missed it work is a curse :censored: hopefully will make one of them soon :mfr_lol:
