Title: Photobucket pulling the plug
Post by: Icefever on July 20, 2017, 01:02:41 PM

There's a thread on the ZG/GTR forum about PB stopping folks from posting photos from their site unless you upgrade for ££££.  I received an email from them yesterday on the subject quote....

WE NOTICED THAT YOU HAVE BEEN USING PHOTOBUCKET FOR 3RD PARTY HOSTING*

"Our Terms of Service does not allow 3rd party hosting with your current account level.
Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img> tag to embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another website such as a forum, Etsy, eBay auction listings, a blog, etc. is definitively 3rd party hosting."

I'm on a small number of forums for my other hobbies, and I have used the service a lot posting the odd photo.  They do say that all photos are safe but I'll be downloading everything when we're back off our holls.

I've closed my account with them as I'm not running any risk of being invoiced for storage of images because somewhere in the small print it says that if no action is taken re upgrading your account will automatically transfer to the paid service.

Unfortunately though all my photos which I hosted with them but posted on here are now gone from the forum.

That is a shame and I shall be closing my account too ... so the obvious question is who will you host your photos with next ?
