Title: Late summer meeting
Post by: PRD on July 19, 2017, 08:32:03 AM
Hi all. Would anybody be interested in a meeting in August or September. Proposed venue is the Belfry in Forest of Dean. We have been there before. Very affordable and good bike parking with nice rooms, bar and restaurant. Good scenery and great ride outs. All welcome on any bike  or car if bike unavailable. If there is enough interest will look at dates. Oh and partners, mistresses etc welcome.

Peter, I could probably make September. August is difficult, as my wife is to have a hip joint replaced at the end of this month and I will be needed at home.

If I can attend, I will!

The date for this meeting will be 25/26 August. Currently they have ten rooms available on both nights. £35 per night single occupancy or £60 per night double occupancy. These prices include breakfast. Please let me know if you book a room.

Great idea, we've had two meets here previously and both have been great. I'm booked in for the Saturday night, I can't make Friday due to work.

The date for this meeting will be 25/26 August.

:ohplease:Peter, just out of curiosity and I hope you don't mind me asking, but what was it that made you choose August 25/26 when 2 of the 3 responses advised that August was not good for them?

Me & the missus will be there if possible...as far as I know we have nothing on that weekend...

Just been on their site and it says...."We are happy to accommodate group bookings, please ask at time of book regarding discounts. but it has to be 10 rooms"  just a thought...

Just tried to book online but it's not possible,  so sent an email...

PRD is booked in now too. If anyone hasn't been to The Belfry before, or indeed this part of the country then they are missing a treat.

If you're not a big drinker there's even a museum just down the road which will while away an hour or two.  :whistling:

come on the 26th.

If I used the bike to get to London from Shropshire, might be an option on 26th en-route home, as stopping over in the smoke night of 25th.
It's me home ground, family still living near Cinderford, two birds and all that...........we'll see.
Do you do anything on the morning of the 27th / 3rd day? Or is it just wake - breakfast - home?

Sunday is usually drag yourself out of bed, have a hearty breakfast, chew the fat for as long as you want, help Charlie pick his back up (cos he normally drops it)  :whistling: and then in your own time say your goodbyes and do one.

I've emailed them on Friday from the hotel in France on the way back home, got an email saying they would pencil in a room for us but they needed a credit card to hold.  Tried twice last night to phone but no one answered,  will try later today, and keep on until I get somewhere with this booking.

My recovery is a lot slower than expected and even driving the car that distance would be difficult.

Lovely video Steve the wasp at the start was that the one that bit Charlie  :mfr_lol:.
I noticed how much I shout with ear plugs and my crash helmet on  :whistling:.
It was smashing to meet old friends and new ones
Roll on the next one can't wait  work time and hours permitting

Tony, wasps very rarely bite, but they have been known to sting people :mfr_lol:

Yes, this is that very wasp. I tracked him down and even did an interview with him but I couldn't broadcast it because he couldn't sign the release papers.

I have to admit how envious I was that everyone else was on two wheels and I had to attend in the car but that definitely didn't stop me having a great time and it was brill to catch up with everyone and meet new members.

Fingers crossed at the next meet I'll have a bike.

Yes we all enjoyed ourselves, it was great to see that people made the effort to attend especially with it being a Bank Holiday weekend when people may have had family commitments. Whether you stay overnight or just pop in to say, Hi on a fleeting visit, all were made to feel most welcome, even the guy that came in a car!

For anyone who couldn't make it this time, they'll always be next year.

Brian & Rose, many thanks. It's the first time I've ever done a video from a meet, normally I rely on photos but I thought I'd have a go at something different. I ended up with 26gb of footage and 80 short clips to sift through, oh joy!  :mfr_lol:

The sound quality on the video is superb, that rifle mic even minimised the community singing of Sweet Caroline by the 1400GTR backing singers..........
Even the horse munching grass and the insects in the opening shots sound so clear.  Film quality pin sharp as well 🎥👍😎

The Wolf in Stanley Kubrick mode..............
