Title: Time to go
Post by: coman37 on July 03, 2017, 10:07:33 AM
Well its time, after 8 yrs of unblemished service, 8000 miles of adventures, commuting and general service, its time to let someone take over the ownership of my GTR. I'm just not doing the journeys that she was built for and can no longer justify the minimal expense (very low insurance due to old fogey status, minimal maintenance as nothing goes wrong(apart from the ABS pump this year!!) no wear and tear due to reduced mileage). I'm not giving up riding, I'll still commute on the Fuoco, I'll still meander on the Zephyr and I'll still fantasise about getting back on my 2003 FireBlade which appears to have shrunk (but is to be kept forever!)

So if anyone is in the market for a 2 owner low mileage (13844) very good condition moondust grey 2009 GTR with new tyres,9 months MOT, front fender extender, Beowulf stainless rad guard please get in touch.
It has the usual boot scuffs to the pannier tops, the odd graze from parking bays, but no rust under the seat, the rear shock adjuster isn't seized, its had the brake pedal recall done and is ready for the next owner. Offered here at £5500

I have a load of must have accessories which will be offered to the winning buyer, if not required they will be available to forum members at the same price. Any unsold items will then be offered on eBay

Kawasaki top case and mounting plate £100
Bar risers and bolts £50
Stem mount £25
Power commander £150
Beowulf silencer and link pipe £100
Givi screen £75
Kawasaki large screen £95
Front spindle crash bobbins £15
Project D sat nav mount £25

I hope you will still grace the forum and don't drift away

The GTR is an awesome bike but I understand your dilemma, if its not being used to its full potential then you could say it's wasted.

Anyway, good luck with the sale

sounds nice but....

am I the only person who gets turned off seeing any sort of advertisements where the seller has removed bits and bobs to sell separately?

Me personally I always skip past them and give them no further time of day.

If you really feel the need to strip stuff off then sell it separately later  and don't make a meal of it, yes we all know that the extras cost but..

Just my view on it

It'll be a shame to see you leave the gang and I hope you get what you are looking for, price wise for the bike, but I personally feel you are asking way too much for it. OB1 sold his 2011/2012 model GTR only a couple of weeks ago for a similar price with similar mileage & it was in excellent condition.

Realistically for an 8 year old GTR as difficult as it may be to accept, you're possibly looking at about 4k to 4.5k. Nevertheless I've been proven wrong hundreds of times before and it only takes one potential buyer to like what he/she sees and you've done the deal.

Good luck.

Hi Wolf,
I appreciate your input but all the GTR's less than £5500 have considerably higher mileage, only time will tell if its too much.

Mikey,
I dont understand your rationale, i have returned the bike to how it left the factory and that's exactly what is being offered. You may have read on here the very strong opinions on the (hideous) standard exhaust, i have refitted the standard and the new buyer can decide on any changes that they deem fit, different stature riders need different height screens(which one do YOU think i should leave on ?) Same with the bar risers, some need some dont, Satnav/camera mount, some fit some dont, should i include the Gp-pro and the Tom-Tom? When does an accessory/modification become a fixture Or do you think i should include all failed mods in the offer

as I said its my personal preference(it may be others)

If I go to look at a bike (or a car or a van) I don't want to be haggling over bits & pieces.

Advertise the item as it is , at the price you want and if the buyer wants to swap anything later that's their perogative.

If the seller wants to keep something then fine but remove it before listing and speak of it no more :)

Nah Mikey I'm with Coman and, I suspect, the majority of others on here

It's quite normal to sell accessories/extras separately when selling/part exchanging a bike, for the exact reasons outlined by Coman in his posting.

BTW you spelt prerogative incorrectly

I'm just odd , I'll skip an advert like this and move on too the next one:)

Mind you I typically only sell a bike once I've pretty much run it into the ground, keep anything that's useful then get what I can for them :D

That's basically my tact on it as well.   And I agree, you are odd.  But then again, most of us are.

Having just decided to stop using the GTR for occasional commuting and sell the GTR and only use the Gilera Fuoco for the short commute.
I left work tonight to find an empty parking bay, the little xxxxers have had my scoot away, so taxi home, call the police, call the insurance, get passed on to the claims handler, i have repeated my name, address, reg number, postcode, bike make and model at least ten times to friendly helpful robots.
Ive now been advised that the claims handler will conference call DVLA to consider my claim. What the xxxx has it got to do with DVLA, and dont consider my claim just xxxxing pay it. I wasn't allowed to consider the premium !!!

Rant over (for now)

It's enough to make your blood boil, like you say Coman, they are quick to relieve you of your premium money

Also why is it that after going through lots of options/selections on the phone when ringing these people that when you finally get through to a humanoid they then ask you all the same questions that you have just answered with the options menu  :2guns:

Well Wolf, you were right, it bid to £4200(less than my reserve) had a couple of chancers contact me after the sale happy to pay £4400 but neither have come up with the money !!!
So i am going to put all their good bits back on (apart from the Power Commander as i have been running for two weeks without and cant tell the difference) and will take the GTR to my apartment in Spain and leave it there for my holiday bike (Jerez MotoGP, Jerez World Superbike, December sun, January sun etc) and bring the Tiger 955 home and sell that

So i will still lurk on this forum
