Title: Which Jean
Post by: O.C. on June 26, 2017, 02:37:51 PM
I'm considering getting some biking jeans, my last ones became too big after my weight loss.

So what are you wearing ? quality is important as is protection and comfort, what are Kevlar lined ones like ?

Any advice appreciated

I have a pair of Draggin jeans which are nine years old now. I only wear them in summer, but they have washed well and still look good. The Kevlar lining in the arse and legs is still in place.
Downside is there is no internal pockets for adding armour, and the leg is loose cut all the way. This means it is easy to get the bottom of the leg caught on the gear change pedal or pegs when you put a foot down when stationary, which can be an arse clenching moment.!
So try them on before buying, and sit on the bike as well.

+1 on the draggin jeans.
I have 3 pairs 2 blue and one black I use to wear the black when I commuted to work you couldn't wear jeans in the office but the black looked like cords from a distance  :whistling:

I also have the red route denim jacket I wear in the summer shoulder and elbow armour ini haven't tried the jeans but I've heard good reports

I have the Dainese Bonneville jeans really comfortable and have hip and knee protection reflective bands on rear pockets, ( knee pads bought separate ) and they look good too. They are cut slightly longer because when you are in the riding position they pull up to the correct length.

Thanks guys, I'm still researching, the Jeans I had before were Draggin and were very good, the latest incarnation of which seems to provide knee and hip armour (presumably bought separately)

I like the look of the Dainese jeans too

I wear my pants over my boots so don't want skinny fit  and take the point about flappy trouser legs

Blimey they're expensive these days

Rog, over the last few years I've bought jeans made by Draggin Jeans, Hood and, most recently (last year) Lindstrands. I now always wear the Lindstrands in any weather that is not really cold, because they are both cool and soft to the touch (I think because they are lined with Aramid rather than Kevlar).

An added bonus is that they can be rolled up for easy packing on touring trips, taking up little room in a pannier. This means that on arrival at the destination, I can wear them for all local riding and to walk around in, keeping the full touring suit to wear on the longer, faster journeys to and from hotel to home.

I think now that all of the major clothing manufacturers offer Aramid and Kevlar linings, so it probably comes down to which fits you best?
