In places such as the USA & Europe have the sidestand/kickstand fitted to the right hand side of the bike as this would allow you to dismount more easily away from traffic?
Here in the UK/(Plus OZ & Japan etc) we're ok as we get off to the left.
And why do we drive on the left /mount a bike from the left ?
Because it's the right way to do it , well it was back in the days of knights with swords and horses anyways.
You mounted your horse from the left so that your sword (which was hanging on your left) didn't get all tangled up and you rode on the left so that you could use your weapon against your enemies.
Off to bed on that thought :)
Some very interesting points you have raised there.....on the topic of swords, did you know that spiral staircases in castles always twist in a clockwise direction so that the sword will be in the right hand, which is usually the strong hand and therefore at its lowest point for attack for the bad guy as they climb the staircase looking to fight off the husband of the fair maiden in the castle. However for the defender who will be above the bad guy looking down the staircase their sword will also be in their right hand, thereby giving them a tactical advantage over bad guy as they will have a greater reach and more likely to be able to gut the attacker like a fish thereby protecting the honour of the beautiful maiden in one of the castles turrets.
Now take that thought to bed :mfr_lol:
yes. However I discounted that as the majority of motorcycles can't get up the majority of spiral staircases
..........my brain hurts......... :mfr_lol:
interesting to compare answers from the other side

Who's bothered which way the staircase goes as long as you are at the top with a longbow or crossbow wiggling your two fingers
