Title: Sweet Sweet Selection
Post by: Charlie747 on May 29, 2017, 09:51:04 PM
Having not ridden the Old War Horse much since last year this weekend after getting the old girl an MOT I thought I'd use her to enjoy the weather.

No don't get me wrong the K16 is ok..........but it's far from perfect.................

After a good blast on the GTR you really appreciate a sweet gearbox, rear suspension geometry that is not compromised by throttle inputs, quick turn in, fine brake feel, and lovely lovely thrust from peak torque upwards.  :scooter:

Weight and size wise it feels like riding a CBR600rrrrrrrrrrr etc after getting off a full dressed HD soft fat boy etc..............

Suppose what I'm trying to say............it's .........FUN.......so much FUN and Exciting........did I say exciting ? :punk:

Something that some other manufactures just don't seem to understand or encourage within their machine range.

What Charlie forgot to mention though was that before he took the GTR out for a ride he had to touch up the areas of the bodywork where the paint had rubbed off as some leaves had fallen onto the bike over the winter months thereby causing an abrasive effect on the micro thin layer of paint Kawasaki offer.

Then he had to free up the seized shock adjuster for the 100th time as some dust had entered it preventing even the 2nd strongest man in the world from twisting it.

Other than that, he was good to go.

And safe in the knowledge that he would at least get home on his bike other than on the back of a recovery truck  :mfr_lol:

Yer right, the paint has all worn off my 73,000 mile nearly 10 year old 1400GTR,..... NOT!!
Perhaps if you'd not washed yours so often Steve it would have fared better?
Bikes are for riding, not for cleaning or polishing.

To be fair, some of the powdercoating has come off the swingarm links and she has a few scrapes and scratches but that's what happens when ya ride it.
Charlie is right, Kawasaki excel at grin factor  :mfr_lol:

Good for you, my friend.  Mine has only been out once this year and that was to test the rear braking system after some work.  The Indian is seeing most of the riding thus far...
