Title: Wanted Baglux Tank Cover
Post by: BruLan on May 23, 2017, 11:36:17 AM
I've just bought an 08 and now find I can t fit a GIVI Tank Lock type Tank Bag.
Seems like the only solution is one of those hideous Baglux Covers.
I really cant bring myself to buy a new on
So does anyone have one for sale
Thanks in advance

Can you not just replace the storage and replace it with the plastic cover off a later model?

Check out SW motech bags connection or Oxford do a tank lock system. Heres a link http://www.twistedthrottle.com/bags-connection-evo-bottom-tankring-to-mount-quick-lock-tankbags-kawasaki-gtr1400-concours-09

dont buy the tank cover , its waful and such a terrible fit , There is not enough exposed tank to make a good fit , just sits on the tank like a trilby hat

Strange. Mine fits perfectly. And as the adjustable retaining straps are secured using existing fairing bolts, tightening the straps down makes it a really, tight secure fit. And that's *with* the velcro seam that allows access to the storage compartment on the original GTR.

Cheers

I'm with Paul totally!
The Gen 1 baglux fits like a glove with adjustable straps, only gotta release 2 of 4 bag clips when filling, and still have use of front tank pouch for charging / toll coins etc!
As for the bag, over 6 years been on 4 different bikes, still as fit for purpose as ever!
Brulan, if you want to see one in action pop across, not too far away, 10 miles from Stafford.

I'll be trying to fit mine on a 2016/17 model tomorrow.

Could be fun and a little swearing.

Fitted mine the other day and it was pretty painless.

I was expecting it to be pretty crap to be honest after what I have read about the covers on the GTR
But it's not that bad at all, it took maybe 15 mins, whilst its not 100% perfect its better than I expected. My ZZR was a great fit.

The only bit I'm not 100% happy with is the section just in front of the refil, its slightly higher there due to the plastic former glove box, but the cover does have a slightly moldable section where you can form it into the space, its pretty good but not perfect.

Hi. You can fit the tank lock system to your 08. I've done it on mine.  I had to put some spacers on the petrol cap bolts to raise it slightly above the glove boa. Longer one side on the front and shorter ones on the rear bolts . I have however replaced my standard cap with a alumininum one so the petrol hole is smaller.  I did try it with the standard cap and it won't hinge all the way out with the lock ring.  I only put the ring on when I'm touring as it's a bit unsightly for normal use but much better than the baglux bag which I found leans to the left all the time no matter what I did.

Hi,
I have assembled a conversion kit to remove the Glovebox and Fit the Blanking Plate from later models.
The Blanking plate came from Kawasaki
BUT and ins a B I G BUT the Mounting bracket is wider on the later models,
I was lucky and a forum member had a spare.
I think the Glovebox is more useful so only intend to use the blanking plate and Tank Bag when touring
