Title: GoPro and You Tube Woes....
Post by: Noodles on May 21, 2017, 05:48:41 AM
So whilst I have been in the South of France I have tried a couple of gopro clips with the intention of uploading them onto Youtube .... I have done a few mountain bike ones in the past and uploading has taken around half an hour but with these I have been going nuts!  :hammer:
One clip (of 21minutes) was stuck on 'uploading 64%' for .... wait for it ... 11 hours and still didn't upload  :death:

I have tried 2 clips of no more than 7 minutes in length and both were showing 2.5 hrs upload time and then kept extending .... what am I doing wrong???????

I've only uploaded 1 vid so far to Youtube... it's only about 3 mins but that took just a few seconds.  I'd be looking at your broadband speed? or the software...what's the file size?

Some of the guys on here do a lot more than me... they may know?

Uploading will be incredibly slow for these gopro clips ,  mine is .

Do a speedtest on your wifi using a site like speedtest

http://www.speedtest.net/

see what the Upload speed is rather than the download , these are generally really really slow even on the best services

What were the settings on the camera?

Obviously the duration of the video is one aspect, but if you're running high bit rates, high resolution,  even a short clip can be pretty big. The size of the upload would go a long way to  identifying the problem.

Also, depending on the file format sometimes youtube/facebook etc can screw things up, I made a mistake of trying to upload a 4k video of around 25mins, then I realised it was around 4.8GB.

And I have a couple of fast connections  here too !!

Cheers everyone ... I have been using various hotels and their wifi so maybe not helping, also suspect the file maybe massive but no idea how to alter it on GoPro editing software? this might have to be for my own enjoyment  ... was pretty naf anyway and not one to stay in for

I know I know .... its not the done thing and daft really but when its boiling like that I love not having to have all the gear on, when else can you do it?
It's a risk of course if you come off but as I say it's my risk and would never do it anyother time, I am envious when I see locals just jump on their bikes in t-shirts and shorts in glorious sunshine  :biker3: ... be back in the rain and wrapped uplike a kipper soon enough

... oh and I may have been naked  :censored:
