Hi all
While cleaning the bike yesterday I noticed underneath the mirrors were 3 bolts.
Would I be right in assuming that once the bolts are removed, the mirrors come off?
The reason I ask is, with the removal of the mirrors, I can get the bike in my brick shed for the winter. (I know it's a long way off)
Btw, it's a 2016 bike
From this photo it looks like your correct.....https://www.motorparts-online.com/en/kawasaki/gtr-1400/2007-2010/mirror-right/201138513 (https://www.motorparts-online.com/en/kawasaki/gtr-1400/2007-2010/mirror-right/201138513)
After installing leds in the mirrors (see topic http://www.gtr1400.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=4255.msg58542#msg58542) I can tell removing them was very easy, so no surprises on that :punk:
I may get away with removing one of them.
The official width dimensions are misleading and don't take into account the mirrors.
Also, the length dimensions do not take into account of the top box plate
Naughty! :nono:
Anyway, good news, my p & j will be out of the elements at the end of November
Thanks for the info
In the meantime, I shall be enjoying spring/summer/autumn
If you can get away with just removing one of them have you tried folding them in. I used that method to get mine in the shed.

It was an effort getting my ZZR in through a single door. Had to lean bike and turn handle bars. Doable but a lot of fancying!
No chance with the GTR with mirrors on. I did try, the bike is too wide and heavy to get through a single door. Should be ok with mirrors off.
The photo in Icefever's link confirms what I thought; the whole mirror assembly can be removed by removing the "inner fairing panel" and undoing the 3 nuts that hold it on.
As for the nuts underneath? I have no idea...
Cheers
Paul B.
The 3 underneath are what I'm referring to
I should have explained better me finks!
The actual piece that swivels in the arm mount. Look underneath and there are 3 nuts. I was hoping that once removed, the mirror housing would come away leaving the fixed arm still on the fairing?
Although, if removing the whole mirror assembly is easy, then even better. The bike becomes narrower again.
I'm probably not making much sense here . . .
Future proof the shed and make the door bigger

Well this has come around quick!
Today I managed to put my bike away for the winter.
In order to get the bike through a single door, I had to remove the mirrors and handle bar end caps. Even after removing these, it was still a tight fit!!
Gave it a good clean first, it's like brand new again
3700 miles in 11 months and one drop
What's this bike away for the winter thing you speak of? 😬
It's bloody cold and horrible!! Not enjoyable.
I have found that wheelie bins are good are removing mirrors,,,, :mfr_lol:
Could you make 2 cut outs, one each side of the door opening, mirror size and at mirror height?
Then have a rubber flap to cover the hole when door closed.

Not a bad idea actually. Not sure I'll be able to sort it till spring.
I do like a bit of flapage :smiley
Get a garage built and then you'll not have this problem.

In order to build a garage I would need land and money. I have neither 🙁
