Hi Guys, sorry not been on since my introduction, well ive only gone and bought a 2011 dark green GTR Sooooooo pleased with the bike its fantastic , (picks will follow).
Now ive a problem, ive had to use her for work as my car off the road, well gues what .. ive got a puncture, not a problem ill get it repaired me thinks... BUT so i could grt her home i managed to borrow a pump from a work mate managed to get some air in it and rush to the petrol station to pack some more in but Derrr the air pump wont fit (big mistake). got it home... Just. but as i just pumping it up in my workshop i must have bent the valve as next thing big rush of air and the valve in 2 bits. Ahhhhhhhh. now ive had a look on the site and around the web but im still confused, Do i have to got to a main dealer an get an OP or can i get a cheaper replacement on fleebay ???? :ohplease: help.
Oh and the bike workshop I took the wheel to this morning says ill need to replace the sensor but I thought the valve just poked through and was seated through the sensor ?????
99% sure you can only get the complete unit which when fitted will need coding in by kawasaki.you could possibly use only the stem mounted to your old sensor if its intact so wont need coding.try a breakers for s/hand.have the part number as there are 2 types. Good luck
Check here looks like they maybe seperate. http://www.kawasakiparts4u.com/
The black plastic sensor unit is separate from the valve stem unit. The valve passes through the sensor and is held in position by a spring between the sensor and the outer part of the valve stem.
Unless the sensor unit is damaged, you will not need a new one. If you do, it will need programming to the bike.
If you are looking for second hand on ebay, note that a European spec sensor should have 434MHz on the label, US ones are a different frequency.
The Kawasaki reference number is 21176-0124
Thanks for the reply's so far Guys, ive been in touch with Colchester Kawasaki and they say the part has been super seeded and i would have to order a complete new sensor as the new ones are all one unit £140+ then obs the tyre needs fixing then the new sensor will need to be set up with my bike..... Dam and blast and a few other expletives throne in lol. so ive gone onto find a bike part so hopefully there is one out there,
Any good http://www.cmsnl.com/products/valve-tire-pressure-s_161260040/#.WN-15lXyuM8 https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/kawasaki-genuine-parts/161260040-valve-tire-pressure-sens-zg140.aspx
ON the other hand don't bother with tps. It's a nuisance any way.
Thanks Wildybeast, ive been on both sites previously but wasn't to sure, ive emailed them so hopefully ill get some good news Monday.

fair enough.
Hi highside, I've got a spare valve that I keep for such times. You can have it if you like to get you back on the road. You can then just keep your eye out for a second hand one on ebay then send that back to me when one turns up if that helps you out

The good old tps , never has so much been written and discussed about a item on a bike , if one bit on the gtr is a waste of time then this is it , if it doesn't let you down now it will in the future, take em out chuck in the bin and go back to when it goes down then deal with it , :biker3:

You'll be sorrrryyyy.
It's fixed properly very easily, so why disable an excellent safety feature? Incapable or what? I have spare straight stems from replacing them with the proper rt angle ones which prevent that problem happening and the batteries are simple to replace even if low skilled.

:agree: I don't know why folk get so sniffy about TPS which has once saved me from being stranded, by informing me of a slow puncture whilst in a remote area - I managed to make it home, and again, very recently, alerted me to a rapid rear tyre deflation when travelling at high speed on a major road, which, it could be argued, prevented a serious accident
What is so bad about that
+1
I agree too, I had a blood bike last year with a slow air leak, although I got home, it was completely flat later that afternoon.
I just find it annoying that the warning takes over all the cluster functions, unless you override it with the two button gag.
totally agree with that.
More stuff to go wrong and expensive to replace.
but not generally all that problematic and certainly not as expensive as sliding down the road on your arse eh Pete :mfr_lol:
True but you have been riding long enough to know when it does not feel right. More said on this forum on tps than any other subject. It comes up all the time.

I have to say that since having the TPS sensors replaced just after I bought my GTR that the Tyre Pressure screen is the on thats predominantly on view for me

The fist bit is true, so why buy a 1400GTR? The second bit is true only if the owner likes spending his/her money to get someone else to fix it. As said above, the TPMS is simple and cheap to maintain by almost any owner if s/he is keen to do so.
It's just a personal thing whether you get on with the tps or not , a bit like the rock hard seat , the bufferting screen , seizing front discs , do you remap it to get rid of the low down flat spot , delete the last one for all who only use Eco mode , sticking preload on rear shock , mudguard replacement , bar risers, exhaust swap , all these we can fine tune to get just what we like , changed or upgraded all these on mine , still love it and after 5 years and 20000m its a keeper , never had a bike in the last 40 years that I have ever left stock , :biker3:
well i didn't think i would start a fore and against thread on TPS lol,
You will all be pleased to know the Girl is back on the road.....thanks for the help guys

the rock hard seat
Rock hard seat?
The stock GTR seat is luxury after an OEM Honda Blackbird seat and not far off the gel pad one I normally use(d) on the Bird
Actually my better half says the rear pillion seat is comfier then the gel pad saddle on my bird
