Title: Satnav connection
Post by: Paul3068 on March 23, 2017, 09:28:01 PM
I've wired my tom tom rider direct to the battery and all has been fine for over a year, however my mate has been reading up and reckons it should go to a ignition controlled switch, any thoughts?
Cheers

There are a few posts on here regarding this do a search.
But quickly underneath the storage on the left is a rubber boot over the wiring in here are 2 bullet connectors 1 pos and 1 negative crimp the same to your sat nav and you have a switchable supply that is on and off with the ignition do a search on here someone posted the bullet sizes there is also another set under the seat by the tool/fuse box

Just done a quick search try the link below

I've been looking for these and I'm unable to find them. I've also been into the dealers workshop and they say that there isn't a set under the seat.

Any photos of these and where they are?

its easier to find the front ones if you remove the LH trim panel (well it was on my 08).

In my case they were already being used for the aftermarket heated grips so I just tapped in to them for the twat nav supply. (will be inside the rubber boot, might have to fish around)

IIRC for the underseat ones you have to remove the tool tray to find them and if the dealer says they dont exist find a different dealer ;)

If you are unlucky the bolts holding the tool tray in are anti-theft, one-way both and can prove the be difficult to get out

You sir are a gentleman.

I want to fit a din plug at the rear so I can plug my heated jacket in.

Drill centres insert stud extractor undo nut .. or thin nose mole grips ..or I am told SNAP ON do a tool for such predicaments

Heated jackets need to be wired directly to the battery otherwise you lose a lot of heat. Trust me. Been there done that.  😁👍

Also wired my 660 bracket to the front brake light switch via piggy back spade connector.  Easy and minimises wiring.
