Title: Brilliant Bike, but it needs.....
Post by: Icefever on March 18, 2017, 08:41:44 AM

Both a taller screen for me (I'm 6' "2)  and a better seat.  I had a seat on the Pan made by http://www.cmseats.com/page20.html at Coventry,  it was great, so as soon as I get home that's going to be the first call.

As for the screen,  I 'm thinking about the VSTREAM, but I need to find out how much taller they are than the standard one.

Any thoughts you guys have picked up on the Vstream would be welcome..or alternative ones.

I've tried the Laminar Lip but didn't get on with it. Still very noisy for me.
I have a Calsci screen which cuts out ALL noise and wind when fully up. The downside is that if you want complete protection from buffeting then you have to look through the screen. I'll use this for winter riding.
I'm currently using the MRA smoked screen with adjustable flap (similar to the Laminar Lip but adjustable) and Aerowings. A reasonable riding experience which allows some protection. Good for summer riding because it allows some air to the rider. I still use ear plugs though.
I'd like to try the V Stream as a comparison. It is a case of suck it and see I think.

We've just got back  home, must admit the standard screen is very "buffery" is there such a word??? don't think so, as  I just made it up..

We had no ear plugs so we just had to grin a bare it....but boy o boy....what a machine, compared to the GTR, the Pan had no brakes, and yet she sailed through the mot last month without a problem.  We left the hotel in rain got to the roundabout by the M5, feathered the back brake and just STOPPED...  Jeeze this thing has got stopping power.

We stopped at Evesham at the daughters for a cuppa and I was gobbed smacked to see 45.3 MPG.....that's better than the Pan...and we'd travelled up the M5 at 80 mph.

We'll have to look closer at the screens that are available.....but we need to do something as our trip to France is only 15 weeks away.

I phoned the guy that builds the seats and he can do what we want in 7/10 days......so we've got to get that sorted.....my heads spinning here...

Glad you're enjoying it!

All that stopping power generates some serious heat. Be sure to add "front disc bobbins" to your regular maintenance list, or you could be looking at warped discs down the line.

Cheers

I've got a seat from CM seat's on mine, find it very comfy, I'll get a better idea during my September tour  had his seats on my Blackbird and Pan previously. Had a V-stream on my Pan worked very well, may look at getting one for the GTR as well.

Thanks for the heads up on the bobbins Paul....I must admit none of the pans that I've had over the last 12 years had brakes like this beauty for stopping power.
When you think about  the heat build up it's worth being aware of it..
