like Miss Daisy more often. My normal slightly more enthusiastic commute is typically 40-42 (imperial) MPG

you mean a random selection of vowels with the odd consonant and punctuation mark thrown in?

it's a long story. Wolf may explain
You need to get a ride out from devils bridge to kilder forest mike, great roads
I'm a firm believer that the bike is there to be enjoyed. If on some rides you get 50+ to the gallon, so be it....if on other rides you only get 30 summat, then who cares. Just enjoy the bike.

Steve, I'm sure I recall a picture posted by yourself demonstrating just how economical the GTR can be

As a rule I agree, I was just curious.
My main gripe is that Kawasaki only fitted a 22 litre tank, the FJR has 26 litres, the ST1300 29 litres, hell even my Bird has got 23 litres , the old ST1100 had 28 as did the 1000GTR I believe.
Any bike as comfortable as the GTR should be capable of hitting 200 miles to the chicken ight even for the most ham fisted of us.
At my normal commuting MPG that means about a 26-27 litre tank is required really.

I've had 55+ mpg from the GTR and just slightly less from the K1600. I can't remember what size tank the Beemer has but it is I believe larger than the GTR. I could easily do the best part of 300 miles on the Beemer before even needing to start looking for a garage. I agree though in respect of the GTR, as a flagship tourer it should have longer range.

26.5
yep the GTR does possess a relatively small tank in relation to it's objectives as a super touring GT
However I find that after about 100 -150 or so miles that I'm ready for a comfort break and/or leg stretch, as you get older ones bladder generally gets weaker :mfr_lol:
I normally hit the gas station between 200 and 220 miles on mine (riding long distances) and that's plenty long enough to be in the saddle, at least for me. I'm quite happy with the C14's range and tank volume. With Steve's flash on it and riding sedately, I got 50.5 mpg the other day.

It's taken some finding but this could be the one you were referring to. Over a 400 mile trip, this is what I averaged.

Show off... :mfr_lol:

Yes, that is the photo that I was waiting for.....I remember it well, even though it was a few years ago I think
Interesting stuff. Being new to the bike I was wondering what to expect on economy and range (although if it was really a big issue I would have checked it out before buying the bike!)
I think I got 51.5mpg on my one and only ride so far which was largely motorway with a bit of East London congestion thrown in. That was keeping the revs under 5k for running in and I expect economy will improve as the engine loosens up a bit.
I used to be able to count on 160-180 out of a tank full when two-up touring on the GSX1400, do you think the GTR will match or better it?
I don't see why not. I start looking for stations between 200-220 or so....when I'm not thrashing it.
