Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, let me first state im a bit embarrassed but as yet I do not own a GTR but im hoping to change that in the very near future. Ive been riding my ZZR 1100 D (1995) since 1997 yep she and i are getting on a bit.
Well its time to let her go. Well its not her thats showing her age but Me, im having problems with some arthritis in by shoulder joint and even though ive added bar risers to her i cant ride for long without getting pain and my arm numbing. Now the wife suggested a new bike  so strait on the interweb and as im a Kwaker man through and through it would go against every fibre to go to the dark side and look else where and nearly everything ive read is possitive re the GTR.
would you guys be so kind as to pass on some info to me ,ie riding position, pillion feedback, day today living with a GTR things to look out for ect. ive read lots you tubed lots but you cant beat the guys in the know. im looking to contact a couple of places for a test ride next weekend but the nearest GTRs for sale are an hour away and shut on Sundays (had to go shopping today lol). sorry for the long into.
well hello highside, you have found an excellent forum which is just the right place to ask any questions about the superb GTR, you are guaranteed an honest, informative and helpful answer....oh BTW there's plenty p☆ss taking too.
Good luck with your search for a new bike.
Speaking of wee wee takeing ... Wooks here :mfr_lol:.
Hello High side and welcome
Reading your post and very interesting it was Wook will give ya some idea .
Many years ago in a galaxy ..oops wrong story ..I broke me back and me neck ..in a car smash .. anyhoo as you may imagine I am plated screwed and bolted and creaking with the auld Arthur Ritus .. I have had 1 FJR .. good bike but made shoulders and spine ache like a megga heamaroid. !!
Has 2 GTRS 1st one was 2009 ... and it was damn comphy . Eg newcastle to bristol and back same day on a courier run ..and only the last 50 mile was me joints a bit sore .
Now own a 2016 GTR .. and OMG the slight changes Kawasaki have made to the ergonomics are subtle but soooo much better.
Longest in the saddle so far was 5 hrs (still running her in ) and only a slight ache in left hip . No problems from upper torso .. but you are ever so slightly canted forward and if ya lazy you can find ya self putting a bit of weight thru ya wrists.
She is a big girl but oh so chuck able (well once you get rid of the O E Bridgeshites)
It's fairly easy to get onto the center stand ..and copious amount of room in the saddle for ermmmm normal sized over 50 arses!! :mfr_lol:
Reet enjoy and welcome and go get one tiggur
Hi Highside and welcome to the madhouse. Agree with Wookie ( if you can understand fluent Geordie ) l have fitted 2" risers to mine which has made it more comfortable but as a 72 year old shortarse l need all the help l can get. Lived in Rayleigh myself until l moved Devon many years ago

Welcome here :punk:
Welcome!
Good choice of bik. It will be fine.
Ah, highside... we all end up with a "grown up" bike eventually. I loved my ZZR1200 but knew it was a matter of time before I lost my licence or killed myself. I then went for a CBF1000, a nice steady bike, but as I'm 6'4", the bike wasn't physically big enough for me.
Now, the GTR. You'll love it. Strap the luggage on, and it'll cross continents - I rode mine to the top of Norway and back last year. 5000 miles in 13 days.
Take the luggage off, and hit the twisties, and you'll end up with a big grin on your face. Get some decent tyres on it first though.
As for riding position... You have plenty of options with screens, seats, various bar-risers, and even suspension links if you're "vertically challenged". You'll have to decide yourself, once you've done a few (hundred) miles.
Good luck finding one, and enjoy the test rides
Cheers,
Paul B.
Hello and welcome
Owned ZZR 11 myself. Brought it over from Australia, I think it hadn't been released in the UK, it got a lot of attention! Still got the Aussie number plate in my shed. ZCT 43. Great bike :punk:
I switched from a ZZR1400 for pretty much the same reasons.
Enjoy your search for the big Kwak.
:185: several of us have had multiple GTRs they are that good.
:185: :185:  Highside.
If you want a closer look at a slightly modified GTR, I am several million millimetres from you in Wickford. :mfr_lol:
Let me know and yer welcome to have a sit. Mine has bar risers and a monster screen but is mostly a stock 2007.
Mine is sitting in the garage with no wheels on waiting for some cosmetic work to the front wheel and a couple of brackets.
Once I have these back from the powder coaters I'll have it back on the road and would be very happy for a ride out to Raleigh as I'm only 15 mins south of the bridge/tunnel.
I've made a few adjustments to stock, ie bar riser and adjuster rearwards, screen, and low gel seat which I'me yet to sit on as I've just bought it from one of the guys on here.
As for the GTR in general - wonderful!
:185: from South Lincs :ninja:
As you've probably guessed once you've got it back home you can fine tune a GTR to fit almost all shapes and sizes. Loads of goodies from pegs screens seats handlebars risers etc mostly of the shelf via interweb thingy 😃
Enjoy :punk:

Yup Wooks but you're only as old as the woman you feel and if you haven't grown up by the time your 50 you don't have to. My old mate, lamkwackers is more of an old fart than me and he is going back racing this year. It's just a number and a few aches. Lol

believe me they are young uns at heart ...I know this
The average age of a Honda Goldwing owner is 55.
Flip knows what the average age of a GTR owner must be!!
Hi Highside, just joined here myself from not so sunny Bristol. Also just bought my GTR which I try to find excuses to be able to get out on it. Absolutely love it and these pages!!
Welcome Highside, you'll love it. If and when you decide to make some tweeks and alterations it's probably a good idea to look on these pages before spending a fortune on the intereweb thingy-so far I have got a seat, screen and engine bars/crash bobbins, all soooo much cheaper than brand new on line and the guys I've dealt with have been real gents and dead honest.
