Title: Making the obligatory intro
Post by: mikeyw64 on January 16, 2017, 09:07:04 AM
Names Mike and I haven't owned a car for nearly 15 years now. In that time I have primarily been riding ST110's & CBR110's (currently own 3 birds, long story lol)

Always fancied the GTR and having quit smoking decided it was time for a slightly newer bike to join my "fleet".

Dealers just needs to get a replacement TPS in and then the new rear tyre that was needed for the MOT can be fitted.

Bike is an 08, 2 owner with 7k miles on her

Welcome along Mikey, that GTR looks superb and very low mileage for the year

Just get the dealer to check the rear suspension adjuster, as they can be come seized if left un-adjusted for any length of time

Otherwise good luck and I bet you're looking forward to lots of miles and smiles

BTW don't mention Honda on here  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

She's a little different from the last Kwacker I owned :)

At the moment she's getting a full service from the dealer (Bradford Motorcycles), things like adjusters can always be a problem if they're not touched regardless of bike.

At this moment I cant see that I'll be doing much to her other than fitting a mount for my Zumo 660 and riding her.

Might look at a tankbag (any recommendations?) for later in the year and I must say the headlight looks a prime candidate for a Dual HID projector  (https://www.retrofitlab.com/en/hid-projector-kit/bi-xenon-mini-h1-twin-kit-1.html)conversion (although from reading around the general concensus seems to be the OEM headlight ain't bad but........ )

Much has been discussed regarding Tank Bags, and it all depends on what your personal requirements are, I use a Motec Quick Lock Evo for day use, this means that it can be exchanged for a larger capacity bag very quickly and easily

Others will no doubt be along to offer their own suggestions

Something for popping sarnies, drinks etc in close to hand whilst on longer trips. Not a big fan of "big" tankbags.

Pity the panniers don't have an opening flap like the Givis I have on the Bird. Load em up then place the munchies at the top and open without a key :)

The "glove box"on the 1st generation GTR makes fuel-cap-mount solutions almost impossible, sadly  I'm sure they exist. In fact I recall seeing a US site selling something that you had to mod with a Dremel (or similar) to allow you to open the filler cap properly...
