Title: Raising the mirrors
Post by: trousersnake01 on January 06, 2017, 08:24:57 PM
Does anyone know about raising the mirrors?  They are too low for me commuting in London,  how are they fixed to the bike,  someone must have done this mod

I take it you have an 08/09 bike?  They raised them on the 10+ models.  We had one guy selling a kit to raise them but that was a long time ago.

I have lifted the mirrors on my bike 2009 model . I did post some pictures  under  mirror lifter uppers , I made them from delrin and turned them on my lathe to lift them up by 35 mm .
You could have a look on the cog fourm where someone also lifted them by 50 mm  thats where I stole the idea.

I wasn't even thinking of this forum.  I was thinking of ours.   I looked at your link and saw that I even commented on it.  Didn't remember I had seen it here.  Must have not been drinking at the time.  :mfr_lol:

From what I recall in the early years, the ones that had the issues with the mirrors typically were your taller individuals.  I can see what I need to see out of mine and I'm 5'10.

Ye have an 08 and never have a prob seeing or traffic filtering. In fact i use the mirrors as a guage as to weather the boxes will fit the gap while filtering in traffic lol. Never hit anything thus far fingers crossed 😉

For me the mirrors on the GTR are extremely well positioned.

The mirrors on the later GTRs are better than the ones I had on my first GTR

For me they are very good......I've had worse

Trouser you take side black plastic panels off left n right. The one on left has your heat grip control on it. After that youll see three ten mm nuts that hold mirror on. Undo and mirror pulls off. Easy job but remember the quick rivet that sits inside the wind shield holding black plastic on at the top. Easier to remove screen its only six little bolts. Hope that helps 😁👌
