Title: Hi (again) from Cardiff
Post by: Kylinski on December 23, 2016, 07:08:16 PM
Hi all

Registered on here a couple of years back when I was deciding between another ZZR (gen2) or a GTR decided on the Gen 2 back then.

Picked up my moon dust gray GTR yesterday. Not ridden a bike in winter since I was a yoof! I was glad of the heated grips!

Lovely bike, very smooth, very quiet (compared to Scorpions on gen2)

No horrible CLUNK when engaging first gear!

My only gripe is the horrendous wind noise above 50 mph! WTF???
Didn't get that on the gen 2. My helmet is a Shoei Neotec, I'm sure it's not that. When I tilt my head down, the noise is reduced. Does opening the vent in the screen help?
I've got a Puig replacement screen though I'm not sure if it's any different aerodynamically, I wanted a dark tint screen.

Any advice to rid this prob would be much apreciated.

Oh, and the bike is damn heavy!!

Heavy shmevy, it's all relative.  Have you tried moving the screen into different positions?  Welcome, BTW.

welcome along. ...you found us at last then  :mfr_lol:

My view about turbulence or wind noise (no not that type ) is that I expect some, and in short my opinion about the screen vent is that I dont notice much difference, its designed to make riding on motorways  more comfortable by reducing pressure on a riders torso

Personally I would recommend a Laminar Lip,  but that's my opinion, I have a Neotec helmet too

Yep the GTR is heavy when manoeuvring it about, but it rides 'light'

Ride and enjoy

Hiya Kylinski
WoOk has the same bike and lid as ya self and the same prob ..until his majesticness pointed me to the LAMINAR LIP 80 quid damn well spent 99% wind noise GONE and with the screen fully up I can even ride at ahem 70 mph Mr orifice of the law with my visor cracked open
Hope this helps and enjoy  :smiley:m

Welcome.
I'm not sure I agree about the weight. I had a Goldwing prior to my GTR. Now that was weight!
I fitted a Laminar Lip. It didn't work for me. I have put a Calsci screen on and wind noise is very much reduced!
The Laminar Lip is going on the For Sale section.

Fitted my dark tint Puig screen this morning. Went out in 6C temp to test it and it seemed to do the trick. No more wind noise when the screen is fully up

The Puig screen is taller and wider than OEM screen. Not once did I feel cold during my blat down the coast to sunny Porthcawl

Sorry for the lack of pics, my phone battery died en route, think I may have a faulty charge lead 🙁

I'll get some pics up tomorrow 👍

Glad you got it sorted.  If you see anyone from Torchwood, give them my best.

Funny you should say that, I used to see John Barrowman quite often. He had a house on the coast with a public footpath at the bottom of his garden. He'd always wave and say hello.

Not seen anyone in the house for some time.

problems experienced posting photographs is nearly always due to file size. I dont know why you are having difficulty within different sections of this forum, unless your picture file size is larger  for some reason

Maybe Asif can help
