Title: Midlands meet?
Post by: snowy on December 15, 2016, 09:11:03 PM
Seeing the interest in the suggested south-east meet, how about one in the Midlands?
Due to shifts I'm a bit tied, but how about 2nd. or 3rd January? Suggest, if they're open, venues of RAF museum Cosford, National motorcycle museum on M42 or M54 services near Telford? Thoughts?

Shifts have yet again scuppered the best made plans!
How about Saturday 28th January at RAF Museum, Cosford? Just off Jcn 3 of the M54 / A41.

Website - http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/cosford/

Free admission, although charges for parking, 2 bikes allowed in a bay, café on site and some really great exhibits to have a mooch round!
If anyone's up for it let me know.

Any interest for meeting at Cosford next Saturday, 28th Jan?
Suggest 11:00 in the car park or cafe, weather permitting of course!

Oxford United v Newcastle United FA Cup 4th round prevents me from doing anything else.

Hi snowy and other members .
Alas I can't make it tomorrow due to work and family commitments  :censored:.
The weather doesn't look very good heavy rain forecast.
But if you and any others make it have a safe and enjoyable day

Thanks Tony, you were the only reply so looks like a non starter.
Perhaps in a couple of months with possibly fairer weather!

Hopefully that would be good👍.
On the 26th of Feb my duties change and I'm on 4 from 7 10hrs shifts and 6 day long weekend of once a month so it may be easier to arrange

Us southerners managed it just after xmas. We are obviously tougher down here.

I'm totally new here and have not even taken delivery of my GTR yet (next week or two ) but would be up for this sort of thing if you can get another date together.

Stay safe.

Pete.

Just thinking now the weathers a tad warmer, how about Saturday July 15th?
As suggested previously, RAF Cosford in the morning, interesting place for a mooch, spot of lunch, and bit of a ride round the Shropshire / Mid Wales border in the afty?
If anyone fancies it it lets get some numbers and see if it's viable?

I'm up for the idea still, but I have to work on 15th July unfortunately...

At this rate it will never happen. The southern meet is a distant memory now! Just shows the North/south divide. We get things done!

Ok Snowy...

Meet & greets do take a time to sort, I've tried in the past with another one of my hobbies...(brewing)....but why not put up a list of say 4 dates over the next few months.
Cosford would suit us....but we're away from the 7th July until the 23rd....what about the following.

The 10th June.

The 24th June.

The 5th Aug.

Brian.

The 19th Aug.

Any of the above we can do....

I would love too meet up rich but my work duties aren't published that far in advance so I won't know  till nearer the date/ dates picked :censored:

It was hard enough to arrange to meet you and mr wolf for the picture shoot rest days helped

I'd certainly be up for a meet and a run but you will never find a date that suits everyone (I know, I've tried in the past!)

Probably the only realistic way is to pitch a regular meeting - first or last Sunday in the month or something like that - and those that can make it will turn up.

Snowy, if you do get it together for 15/07 I'd be happy to meet up and if it turns out it is just the two of us I can probably afford to buy the tea

Looks promising to me! Including myself that's 3, gonna be an easy way to achieve 100% attendance figures!
And is that is a gauntlet I see before me..........."Won't happen"............then it will!
Just goes to show still the industrious "North" are committed to their employment / careers / family, and have challenges arranging a social life around them!

Good reply.. Glad the gauntlet has been thrown down. We had more than 3 though.

OK Saturday 15/07 is blocked out to kill some Shropshire insects on my screen.

Give us some details nearer the time, I'm just packing to take the GTR through the tunnel tomorrow so I'll catch up on events when I'm back.

Ah well, another time eh!
