Post by: Busa1400 on December 15, 2016, 06:50:58 PM
I am sure it is in the book, but with out digging it out and finding the section etc, how regularly should the GTR be serviced every xxxx miles?

Hi busa. Your looking at roughly every 4,000 miles some parts of service differ so you will need to check manual but oil n filter change every 4 roughly.

Oil and filter change is evey 7500 miles.
The "inbetween" services are just checks with an optional oil change.
24k miles is valves and sparkplugs and quite spendy.
I change oil and filter every 5k because it's easier to remember.

I stand corrected but i do oil n filter every 4,000 roughly anyway because its cheap and prolongs your engine and running gear life.

But doesn't the math get to you after awhile?  I can do up to 12k but after that it gets fuzzy.

Do mine once a year ,oil. And filter is only £20  I use motul oil , dead easy to do yourself , plus every 2 years change the diff oil , another easy job , air filter bit more of a job but easy to do, brakes are straight forward  , give them a good clean once a year use brake cleaner , have just done them ,lasted 20000m , plugs should last 20000m , will change them when get valves done at independent bike shop , brake fluid I never change unless have to and never noticed any diffrence to the brakes , if you take bike to kawaski to do jobs you can end up paying a lot of money for very easy jobs , once a bike gets so old and miles on it it's worth bugger all anyhow ,  :biker3:

:agree: but your brake and clutch fluid should be changed cos it does degrade after awhile and can affect your braking power plus its easier on your seals after all when your coming down from eighty miles an hour its only a small rubber seal thats doing that and you dont want that failing at the wrong time eh. Plus its cheap and easy to change fluid 👍

I do oil, oil filter, diff oil and air filter every 4K takes half an hour. I use the washable K&N filter and have two so swop them each time, there cleaned and oiled as per instructions.

I clean brakes every month and rotate my bobbins at the same time, I have changed the brake fluid twice so far in five years.

Perhaps a bit of an overkill but my head says my bike is a friend and should be treated like one.

Thats the ticket busa an oil change makes all the difference long term. It keeps your engine bearings and gearbox in better shape long term. Plus resale time it looks good to new buyer that you stay on top and look after your bike. Keep all your receipts too eh 👍😃
