Whilst collecting my GTR from that garage after a major service, the shop owner told me that as of 2017 the GTR will no longer be in production....I'm gutted to say the least!
Can anyone shed any light?
Cheers Tim.
If that's the case then it's sad, it's the best bike I have ever had and the comparison FJR which a mate has is in his words is sometimes hard work due to the vibration in the handlebars, as for others I don't like the Trophy so what does that leave us with?.
Oh well this will have to last longer then.
It's a shame of course but it wasn't updated to be euro4 compliant which all new bikes should be as of 2017. So do the math...
BMW here we come. Lol
It's only here and Euro .
As stated it's the Euro4 emissions mr K hasn't been interested probably the cost.
It's been launched across the pond in a blue colour so I am reliably informed on the concours / GTR facebook site.

yes, its no secret, the dreaded Euro 4 emissions requirements have doomed our beloved GTR,
But its not a problem, just keep riding your current GTR
I had been wondering how Euro 4 will affect other 1400/1441 engines, what will become of the ZZR 1441 ?

We buy our GTR blood bikes direct from Kawasaki UK and they are usually ex police demo's with about 4,000 miles on them. About 6 months ago we ordered and paid for one which was then, due to a mix up, sold to someone else. Kawasaki had nothing else due to come back from demo but to keep good will offered to convert a new bike to spec for us. It turned up a couple of weeks ago and it is in the blue colour. Fairly dark, almost grey. Everyone has remarked how nice it looks.
The bright side is that due to lack of a newer version, the current one doesn't devaluate as much... 😀
It's fairly common knowledge it was discussed on an earlier thread.
New pictures and info from across the pond attached below.

that's a lovely blue for the gtr , really goes well .think it looks better than the original blue I had
:agree: although I also had one of the Blue U.K. bikes and I still think its a stunning colour

+1 a beautiful colour decisions decisions this or the red
Mines original blue, but I do like that colour
I have had 2 x blue GTRs = Candy Neptune Blue (2010) and Sapphire Blue (2012) both good colours ( preferred the Darker Sapphire Blue ) i think Blue suits the style / lines of the bike, although i have always said a really nice pearl white with a hint of silver fleck would look amazing.
Wonder if the Tour De France will be using GTRs Next Year ?
Mine is candy Neptune blue. It would appear Kawasaki are making the same mistake as Honda when they stopped the production of or the upgrade of the Blackbird.
That is a massive shame ... why would Mr K allow that to happen ? I think its like when Honda stopped making the Blackbird ... a BIG mistake.

 well look at it this way guys. In 2017 our bikes automatically go up in value 😃👍. Most of you guys will still be riding your bikes in 2020. Mines an 08 with 57k on it now n i just had it valued. Guy in bike shop looked at his book n said average mileage would be £5100 ,mine around £4500 because of mileage. Surprised me because i only paid £4700 18 months ago so in theory by next year ill be making a profit lol. Love my bike 😀👍
It seems GTRs hold their money better than some BMWs
And, no, I'm not being cynical, my BMWs lost money like a sailor in a brothel :mfr_lol:
My last gtr held its value really well compared to a German make I used to own. K16's value goes down like the titanic.
this thread has got me reading up on this Euro 4 thingy and the future for existing touring bikes . I'm about to buy a new Pan ready for next year 17 reg . The pan stopped production in 2012 , however most Honda dealers have plenty of crated bikes ready to go . The E4 regs is a massive challenge for bike manufacturers , in terms of meeting the regs and not losing any horsepower . People just wont buy a bike that has less power than it did last year .
Hunts in Manchester has 18 new pans , still crated . Apparently they can apply to the dvla for something called derogration , which means a promise that they can still register any new bikes without E4 compliance for another year after 1 jan 17 . Don't know if hunts have done this , if not they will need to register all their E3 stock before year end and sell as pre registered . Hopefully I may get a bargain.
Looks like its just not worth bike manufacturers spending ££££ trying to make existing motors compliant , better to put that R and D into new models .

I got it from this article , seems a fair system from the DVLA to allow current old stock to be sold through
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/467289/motorcycle-retailers-rules-january-2016.pdf
Manufacturers love to sell bikes .. we hate buying the same model with less power than present
Solution .. slap 100cc extra on the motor lean burn it down same power ish as now .
For a long time the bike press has been slamming the Big K for not electronic wanky fripperies .
2018 NEW model 1450 GTR with electronic bollox ....
Same for the Honda Pan ..
BETCHA :biker3:
Hey wook where can i get a pair of those electric b..locks will it mean i wont have to work so hard :mfr_lol:
Make you right wook its an easy fix n theyll lose more money in lost eu sales than the cost to upgade. Or just put a small supercharger on it for 2018 😀😀
Surely they just keep going with the Versys 1000. That will do anything a Gtr will do in the real world. Not as nice but good enough.
Prd thats like goin from a gtr to a wmb. Ur goin backwards lol
The GTR will be back sometime as already said i wouldn't be surprised if the drawings are already done and possibly Some parts patented and being tested as we speak. IMHO i think supercharging will be the next generation with a lower capacity engine but similar output as now. Would also have the added benefit of less weight ( hopefully circa 230 - 250kg ).
As for power i would certainly trade a few horsepower for additional Torque
May be but that is the way I think the big K will view it.
:agree: with scenario too .. it all comes down to the end cost to the consumer .. is it better to up size the motor .. or downsize and super/turbo it .. however a lean burn 1400 with a supercharger would be BLOODY AWESOME .. ah wanna one a wanna one pleeeeeez

I owned a generation one Versys 1000 , its a very fine bike, but it's not a GTR
:agree: :agree:
At least with a super charger you get torque from the off and thats what i like low end torque. Like an electric bike its on tap instantly. Your right my son drives a one litre turbo fiesta and it is punchy for sure. So a one litre supercharged gtr mmmmm loving the idea must say. What say you wook?
  A 1.4 ltr would be better  no turbo ( too much lag for a bike) but one muvva of a supercharger :smartass:
Well thats right lol. For me a supercharger is the way to go on future bikes. Its fuel efficient its torque on tap and it only requires small engine sizes for good power and performance. No brainer really 😋👍
Surely the current ZZR 1400 engine (1441 cc) would be suitable, with maybe some mods to provide a more touring orientated power delivery, it would probably need a revised Cat also
The latest 1441 engine is already Euro 4 compliant
So my next bike is a ZZR with panniers....fair enough
well why not, ask Dave 2Kwacks how it works, he used to tour his
Nope just stick a supercharger on it job done 👍😃

The zzr 1441 is ideal for touring but is better suited to the shorter rider the seat height is only 800mm.. taller riders will feel cramped on the zzr on long rides. you can lower the pegs and fit bar raisers and a tall screen which will help with comfort. but the zzr is a hyper tourer and will never match the gtr for comfort  but kawasaki GTR was very popular and was a good seller for kawasaki can't see kawasaki pulling the plug and being with out a big tourer in the market :nono: most likely will use the zzr1441 engine and change the gearing for purpose.
p.s TIP.. instead of buying one rear tyre get 2 you will need it :mfr_lol:

Kawasaki said the same thing for years regarding the ZZR1100D, I just hope that the GTR's replacement has more imagination and passion put into it than the ZZR's as the ZZR1200 was just an overbored motor and a body kit.
Whatever comes out will be a compromise. It always has been this way. They look at the market (which they are losing to Yamaha and BMW (pains me to say the words which should not be mentioned)) and decide where to place it, what do dads to put into it, and how much to charge. This is all done using scientific methods such as Saki and Geisha Girls. It's what they did with the GTR 1400 and the C14 and look how long they've been out.
Truthfully I'm debating on whether to stay on two wheels or go to open 4 wheels. I haven't rode in awhile but went out and did close to 350 miles this past Saturday on mine. I just love it when I'm on it. It's the getting on it that's the difficulty. All the gear takes time, I've got to plan for it and the weather is starting to be an inhibitor. I can deal with cold, can't deal with the heat in the summer....
At any rate, depending on what Kwackers comes out with may determine what I'm going to do in the future. There are no other brands as far as I'm concerned. It's a Kwacker or nothing.

I understand exactly what you are saying Zed, I'm the same and I've had lots of Kwaks including a 'few'triple two strokes in my time.
But, when the time arrives for me to change I will have to make a decision based on my needs and abilities and those facts may drive me towards something different.......who knows......... time will tell...my head may rule my heart

What is an Izal bog roll?
Right here we go............where do I start.......bog roll is a sort of slang name for a roll of toilet paper, so named because the brits call toilets bogs.....you can google that Jim.
Izal toilet paper is paper that was common in schools and other institutions way back, it came in boxes and was about 6" square and had the consistency of greasproof paper, in short it wasnt good nor was it particularly effective
