Title: Anyone's steed in for work?
Post by: snowy on November 04, 2016, 10:23:23 AM
Anyone having new tyres, service and grips fitted?
Just saw Taylor Brothers daily update showing a big K in for the work?

That's where mine will be heading when big service due!

Its being collected in the morning,  get a few miles done to clean the tyres then leading rospa group ride in to north wales on sunday.

Went in for a quick look a few weeks ago as I could smell oil burning. Diagnosed as tiny
Leak from top cover falling on exhaust , so booked in for leak and added service, shim check, may get new plugs if needed, new pr4s and better set of grips.

Its good to hand the bike to someone you can trust.

Julian - hard type to find nowadays, total respect for him since I first met him at Chells years ago!
Glad you mentioned the oil leak, sure mines the same, only occasionally, thought it might be cam sensor seal as others have mentioned here, but it'll be shim check due within 6 months so get it checked then by man that knows!
Where's your ROSPA group centred, did IAM years ago and fancy revisiting

Collected the bike from Julian Taylor this morning. Serviced, cam cover gasket done , shims checked and ok,  new tyres and hested grips all as prearranged, plus front wheel bearings and exhaust lea, fixed. So guys how much do you think the invoice was?

Talking about ABS rings, mine were blasted then etch primed and will be gloss black tomorrow.

All they need to do is work now.

The heads of the bolts which secure them to the wheel are also being blasted and painted gloss black otherwise it would look rubbish.

Oh and I reckon the cost of the about to be £850

750.

I expected mor. The tyres and grips were 320 alone,  but he is a great trust worthy guy who is well resepected locally.

     :agree:
He estimated about £400 for the big service and shims to me, so spot on for all that work!
Worries me he's not charging enough to sustain the business he has, really hope it all goes well for him!
Would love to join your group tomorrow, but on me last night shift tonight so no way fit for a quality ride!
Enjoy, and hopefully catch up one day (Live near Newport just down a classy bit of tarmac from Eccleshall)

He underestimated the time for the work but charged less hours that it took. Very good value
