I shall be greasing my shaft again, I like to do this as it feels much better afterwards.
While greasing takes place I shall remove the tyres, sensors, abs rings and disks and drop the wheels off at the powder coater locally to have them done in gloss black.
When back my new tyres will be mounted along with new disk pads front and rear and mated to the shafty bit and ridden hard to make sure all works.
:mfr_lol: :mfr_lol: good job we know what you are really talking about Alan.......very funny, made me laugh :mfr_lol:
I thought that might tickle your fancy Rog.
Thankfully I have the correct grease for the shaft and the splines so all is well.
Actually looking forward to it.
I seem to recall that the correct spline grease used to be difficult to obtain
Luckily I have some Honda  grease that came from 2Kwacks (I thunk) I applied a thin smear to my own splines when I had the rear wheel out two weeks ago
Honda Moly...works great!
Yep just greased my pals gtr up with it. Good gear 👍👍😉

👍🍻😃
I hope that you've removed the wheel bearings before you have the wheels powder coated ?? Those ovens get up to very high temperatures.
Just an update on the tyres, both of them arrived on time and exactly what I ordered, the front from motoblouz.co.uk at £90 and the rear from Tyreleader.co uk for £115
Well impressed I am.
Oh and wheels ready for powder coating with everything removed.
:mfr_lol: thus site is getting a bit saucy ...Big Al greasing his shaft .. wook gettin mildly moist .. someone else wit a watery 3rd eye !!!! When will it all end :censored:
:mfr_lol:
Update.
So I got the wheels powder coated black, had the ABS rings fine sand blasted, primed and painted gloss black, cleaned all the bolts and painted the heads gloss black, replaced the front battery on the TPS, left the rear as it's the new sort, rebuilt everything back to new and fitted the new tyres, balanced the lot.
All back on and when I wheeled the bike out of the garage I could hear something rubbing, further investigation revealed as I now have a 190/55 rear tyre and being the numpty I am I had not adjusted the mounting brackets properly on the hugger.
So off with the brackets and there crap so ordered some new ones, having loosely fitted the hugger I need to elongate the holes on each side down and bit so it can raise up a bit, about 3mm should do it.
So waiting for the new brackets from skidmarx and then I can finish it, but I did give it a quick squirt up the road and all is good.
well done mate...pics would be appreciated when you can
Yep i agree pics are always good after a rejig. My pal has a hugger on his and it does look well but they are bloody dear for what they are i think. Havin said that they do protect the regulater so prob money well spent eh

Take a look at your rear shocker and see what I think is some sort of rectifier or electrical component, a hugger keeps all the stones and crap from it, so I reckon a hundred quid from skidmarx is good value.

OY steady on mac........what have we Yorkshiremen done to upset ya :mfr_lol:
:mfr_lol: sorry oc just taking words from your own mouth :mfr_lol:
About how you yorkshiremen are frugaly astute :mfr_lol:
I can live with frugally astute
The finned thing is the regulator that gets all the crap and stones from the back wheel so once you've forked out £200+for a new one and a new battery as the first thing you notice it wont start or you have no electrical systems £100 might be a good investment .
Charlie
That's the thing, looks expensive so protection is paramount.
I don't remember if it was here or on our forum but someone had it corrode through. Probably not a bad idea to take it loose and inspect it once in awhile. Pretty awful place to put it if you ask me.
They are .. however divvent panic about it gettin splattered in muck ... it needs a pretty good airflow to cool it ... if it gets too hot it will go into thermal runaway and chuck out a zillion volts etc .
The electronics are sealed in resin and can't and don't get wet .
If you have got the cooling fins clogged with crap ..just flush it out .... as for the connection ...ACF 50 on and down the connectors ..jobs a gudun
Panic? I panic at the drop of pin!
Well i would if it was a grenade pin :mfr_lol:
