I found this and thought people may find it of interest
http://www.bapco.org.uk/news/bt-and-google-create-new-location-tool-to-help-emergency-services-find-999-callers-faster/
Absolutely fantastic idea, to ensure valid emergency calls are managed as fast as possible and to locate the idiots who waste the blue light services time!
will read it tomorrow, bedtime for this old codger now :mfr_lol:
As a Community First Responder for thw Ambulance service I can definately see the value in this.
Excellent idea....does this mean that smartphones will automatically receive this facility when the regular phone update takes place ?
My mate has this app on his phone which is supposed to notify peeps if it detects a crash. Last ride we did, every time he cornered the bike it sent a txt to his wife saying he'd crashed, first coffee stop his phone was red hot 😊

tequenology don't you love it!
It seems it will work even if the phone is not connected to the Internet.
That's good for many, including me, who aren't permanently connected!

Think this is a totally different app.
The one your mate has I wouldn't go near, it seems like a licence to make 999 calls, we get enough false call through telecoms we have to trace that are fraudulent or silent.
Think this is more about locating the cellphone that made the call, not motion tracking, by using the GPS functionality instead of nearest cell location.
Any help in speeding up location could possibly save lives.
