I have used silkolene semi synthetic for every service since I got the bike new in Sep 2011 every 4K miles, works a treat, 5L with filter costs £29 from M&P

Mac, that's the only oil I've been using in mine.  Probably overkill but I've never had issues with it.

Nothing wrong with overkill jim as my brother in law would often say " id rather look at it than for it " if you see the analogy  rather too much than not enough 👍😀. Well i think ill splash the cash on a good oil n not worry. My kids are off hand so this is kinda my new nipper lol. It does get a good shout out as top oil. I think my track days are long over o c lol and my old bones take a lot longer to set lol.  :punk: :biker3:

One of the best synthetic motor bike engine oils on the market.refer this information: A Study of Motorcycle Oils - Second Edition (G2156) at https://www.amsoil.com/performancetestarchives.aspx

Any oil that meets the correct spec without extra slippery stuff (not good for wet clutches ) when halfords has a sale charlie buys oil . Most of the time synthetic for diesel engines .

Lots of folks over here use 'diesel' oils.  Appears to work well, but the bikes smoke a bit and they run slower   I've used the Amsoil brand but it didn't 'work' as well as the Mobil1 4T as far as shifting goes.  It seemed to 'wear out' earlier but that's my opinion on my bike with me riding it.  YMMV may vary of course.

Well I'll be spanked with a rolled up copy of the sporting life I didn't know that. And yet it seems to go against all that makes sense eh guys.  Diesel engine oil in a bike go figure. Well I'll give that a miss I think. I'm still going for Mobil I think. Didn't get a chance to readjust my balancer shafts today so watch this space till tomorrow. 😉😉

Yeah I use Amsol, but to save you reading the whole thing with your attention span thingy,Mobil 4T racing is the second best oil in the test and If I am unable to get Amsoil I will be using Mobil 4T racing.
Diesel oil is also used by many GTR owners here in Australia,Apparently with good results, the Penrite brand mainly. Its cheaper being the main reason.
But what ever floats your boat.

Using diesel oil seemed very common in the U.S. when I rode dirt bikes. Namely Shell Rotella. People have been using it for years.  And the 4 strokes are basically a 1 cylinder F1 engine. Very demanding on oil with high compression and short piston skirts etc with most of the engines life spent at over 8000RPM. Total capacity is actually fairly small too.  I've never used it. Well, not yet...

Where ever you look on the internet for information about engine oils, no matter what the engine no matter what the bike or car, there's always a different take on the subject with those who use something different to what the correct spec actually is.
Oils are complex fluids and each is produced for a particular reason and application.
Surely the correct way forward is to use an oil of the correct spec with a good quality filter changed at the correct length of use, or less.
One cannot then go wrong surely!

Kawasaki recommends 10W40 semi-synth without friction modifiers.
If you want to exceed that spec, it's your money.
Just beware the friction modifiers as they can  :censored: your clutch.

Mine uses Halfords green bottle 10W40 semi-synth.
Normally £22 for 5litres. Got a BOGOF last time so £11 per 5litres.
I change the oil every 5000 miles and oil/filter every 10000, as easier to remember than every 7500.
