Title: Bluetooth headsets
Post by: BigAlan on October 12, 2016, 03:38:50 PM
For a couple of years I have been using an autocom system with a radio in the top box, push to talk button and Bluetooth dongle on my bike, usually chatting to others on the same frequency, but now I find I only need to listen to the sat nav so don't need the complete autocom system.

I have an Arai hat and a tom tom rider 2 sat nav which has the Bluetooth facility, so can anybody recommend a decent system to fit into my hat to simply listen to the sat nav.

A good battery life would be handy, then I can remove the complete system from the bike and advertise this to offset the cost.

Ta
Alan

I use a Scala Rider Teamset, Q1, works well with TT Rider V5 bluetooth, phone (for music only), and intercom when Jens' on the back.
Worst thing is a tad noisy from wind with the mount on the side of the helmet.

Alan, I have used a Sena SMH 10 for a few years now and it has been superb, it will handle Sat Nav. pillion, and mobile phone if required, you can also communicate with other riders in a group by pairing to similar headsets ...It will fit your Arai without any problem and the speakers are excellent

If you don't need a pillion then one of the other Sena units will suffice...here's a link to give you an idea

Its all Bluetooth , so no wires required

Hope that helps

BTW good to see you last weekend

This from the Tomtom site regarding headset compatability

http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19054

I use the Scala Rider twinset that I had with my Rider2.  Its a pain as the tomtom400 turns off the headset when it goes into sleep mode, like when you stop to fill up and thus drops connection each time.  A known fault apparently

Ahh that make rings a bell, I shall take a look and put it on my Christmas list,  not that any list makes any difference nowadays.

Good to catch up with you and Geoff as well, the lads are still talking about it.

I have had more bluetooth headsets than I care to remember, connections drop out, head set battery losing charge on long days etc. I would never go back since I bought my autocom

I use the schuberth helmet fitted with there SRC collar .
I think it's made by scala rider for them but it just replaces the collar on the helmet nothing attached to the side and the S2 and pro flip front have ariels built in not sure what helmet you use Alan .
It's quality gear  there is a link below.
