Title: wheel Rim Tape
Post by: zedmeister on October 07, 2016, 11:18:29 PM
Does anyone have rim tape on their wheels i am thinking of putting rim decals on not the full tape, but not sure if it would look chavvy on this  bike. I did it on the SX and it looked really good, but different style of bike. I know Mr K sells rim tape but never seen a GTR with them on. If anyone does have them fitted i would be grateful for pictures.

this one but white /green

I think that looks good, but with things like rim tape it depends on how it actually looks when applied to your bike....in other words I reckon you should try it and see, if you really don't like it it shouldn't be too difficult to remove again

I don't know if anyone on here has it fitted

rim tape can have a good effect ,but if it is not applied correctly and straight looks cheap ,it is a sod to get off once it is stuck in place !!

I had the silver ones on my black wheels. Asif now has the wheels and I think he left them on..

I'm wondering what green rim tape would look like on mine to match the green line on fairing and panniers.

Just ordered them white / green - K & 1400 in green - should be with me tuesday, ordered 16 as i like 3 each side per wheel, i had this combo on the SX and they looked really well.

PRD - Go for it that would look really good complementing the other green highlights.

Very nice

I was under the impression that rim tape was pin stripe tape that went the around the diameter of the wheel ?

I think it would have a hard time sticking to the dirt on mine..

Fitted the decals today and really like them better than i expected, prefer 3 per wheel than 2.

Hi All - the link on the OP shows red / white but if you were to order just put a comment in the note to supplier section at payment stage that you require Green / white   -  or any colour combo you prefer for that matter, that's all i did and got what you see. The service was fantastic got the goods in 3 days from ordering.

The green stripes are tape that i painted ( candy Lime Green ) then applied, if i were ever to sell the bike i can just remove the tape and put back to standard if need to, also if i were to scuff one i can just remove and replace   ---  Simples!!

I am a little OCD with the cleaning i like to get in all the nooks and crannies but not as bad as some lads i know.

Thanks for the thumbs up everyone.

Debs --  Just looking at the picture you posted of your wheels in this thread and i noticed there is quite a bit of oxidisation on the ABS ring. Funnily enough i went to my local K Dealer yesterday as i have the same issue, to see if i could put in a warranty claim ( i still have 6 month warranty ) the service guy said it was easily a claim he took pictures etc and i will know the outcome this week.

Anyone else had this issue??

Yes zed. I've already cleaned it up and put silver Hammerite on it but it's not stopped it. I will get another next time I need the tyres changed

It could be cheaper and quicker to order a replacement...just a thought

I would have ordered a new one if it was out of warranty.
