If the rust is towards the rear of the tank, near to where the two cushions are situated then this was a common occurrence on earlier GTRs (2008--2009)  I'm not aware of others with this problem on later (2012) bikes

Its a problem with most of our bikes. My 08 too i just put some oil on a rag n rubbed it in to the area n ive had no more probs since. Think the paints not thick enough to start with 😒😒  you could use a drop of jenolite rust care. Itll stop it chemically in its tracks 👍👍

Yeah I believe Charlie did experience this problem and after a lot of grief he got the tank exchanged under warranty.

Correct Martin.

Rust in seams at weld points after a very short period of time from 1st reg date.  Discovered it on my way to my first annual meet  :scooter:

Poor prep work prior to painting

Had it happen to mine and just used some rust sealer on it after I tore off that stupid foam (traps the water).  If I do wash the bike on those very rare occasions, I take the seat off and wipe the tank dry.  It hasn't got worse.
