Title: Wiring a sat nav
Post by: PaulW on October 02, 2016, 09:44:36 PM
I have a Tomtom Rider I want to fit. What's the best way of hard wiring it?

Under the storage in the fairing there is a rubber boot on the wiring beneath this are two bullet connectors 1 positive and 1 negative. Do a search on here for the bullet sizes and which wire is positive. Also if you wire to here its powered with the ignition

P.S. There is also 2 more bullet connectors under the seat by the fuse Box/ toolbox so I'm lead to believe

Here's a link that shows where both sets of accessory wire are located..

Male is Negative, Female is Positive.

Hi Paul
I've recently done exactly what you're about to do.
You'll need a male and a female bullet connector soldered to the wires supplied with the TomTom.
Halfords sell what you need. HEF100 and HEF101
I ran my wires down from the handle bars and followed the wiring looms using the same clips to hold the wire in place.
By following the route of the existing loom you end up where you need to be which is under the fairing cubby hole on the left side.
It is easy to take out the cubby hole and the plastic trim which gives you more room to get your hands in. You don't need to remove the screen to get the trim off. If you raise the screen half way it gives you finger room behind the screen to release the plastic clip which releases the trim.
The black rubber boot is easily accessible then.
Good luck.
Barry
