Afternoon,
I hope that you are all well.
I have had 3 or 4 ZZR's both Gen 1 and Gen 2 and now fancy a GTR.
Im looking at a 2016, its seems they come in Black and Grey, is that right ?
As its going to eb a new bike I dont suppose anything to 'look out for' but what should I expect ??
Mick
hiya Mick, and welcome to this great forum, there is plenty good advice and opinion on here
The GTR is obviously more touring orientated, but still has the great 1400 engine.
I'm wondering if you have tried a GTR, as its a revelation even to owners of the ZZR.
The 2016 colour choice is either Metallic Moondust Grey, or Metallic Slate Blue, Black was a 2015 colour.
What you can expect from a GTR is sore cheeks as you WILL be grinning like a loony :mfr_lol:
You won't regret it and no more chain lunging!
:185:
From South Lincolnshire.
Go get a test ride and enjoy :scooter: :punk:
Welcome!
out of interest Mick, why the change from your 2016 ZZR ?
:185: :185: You do know that the GTR is about 40bhp down on the ZZR don't ya?
That said it is more comfy, better weather protection and smoooth!
Front end is identical, motor is Gen1 ZZR with VVT for a flatter torque curve,
I've always wanted a ZZR but no room in the garage or the budget.
Afternoon,
The reason for the change is my ZZR has done 466 miles all summer, brought it brand new from Autorama on 1st March but cant fit it into my work schedule.
A GTR i would be able to use for work occasionally. I have meetings I have to attend in the South of England and to do that on a GTR would be quite nice on a summers day, with the ZZR the riding position is stressful for me over time and big mileages, I'm 6'2.
The 40bhp down I don't mind, lets face it both ZZR and GTR are super fast bikes arnt they. How do you lot feel the GTR is, I am assuming you think it's spritely in any event
I would change the end can, fancy a Scorpion.
Grey it is then if my bike sells.
Mick
466m is what a lot of folk on here do in a day , if you get a gtr then use it , work would never get in the way of going out on the bike ,you can always squeeze in a few hours here and there if you really want to, you are into biking or your not , :biker3:
Nightrider, you maybe right

nightrider, pleased to make your acquaintance,
466m is what a lot of folk on here do in a day - bully for them
If you get a GTR then use it - Who died and left you in charge
work would never get in the way of going out on the bike, you can always squeeze in a few hours - you know my circumstances then ??
you are into biking or your not - Really

Mick, this forum is a very helpful and friendly place, don't take offence at what members say, and you'll find plenty good advice.
Nightriders rssponse is accurate as big mileages are the norm with the GTR, I'm certain he wasn't trying to make a point at your expense.
Good luck with your sale, and purchase, will you be buying from Autorama again ?
I am local to Autorama and they have a couple in so probably, but if i could get a couple of quid off at another dealership then i would probably travel
I would think that if Autorama have a Black GTR in stock then it would be one of the last remaining ones, it was a popular colour.
There is no difference in spec between the 2015 and 2016 bikes,
Brian at Autorama will no doubt 'sharpen his pencil' if you have no part exchange
Thankyou
Thats what I am hoping
Good morning ! I would like to do the opposite.....change my gtr 2011 for a new zzr 2016 performance sport :tt1: but ...but ....but.....too many but :mfr_lol:
:185: welcome !
Mick,
I think deep down, you know the answer: the ZZR is a beast of a toy which you'd wheel out of the garage for a Sunday of tarmac terrorism (screaming through the twisties), where as the GTR is a capable of crossing continents (at high speed if you so desire) or could be used as a daily commute. (It's also good fun through the twisties, I assure you!)
I recently did a 5000 mile round trip with a mate; me on my GTR, him on his ZZR. We had to stop every hour so my mate could "unfold" himself and get movement back in his knees. He was slightly envious of my more comfortable riding position, and I didn't have to check the chain every thousand miles
Cheers. And welcome, btw.
Paul B.
Thankyou for your comments
The ZZR is sold and will be collected Thursday, new GTR being collected Saturday morning - to say im excited is an understatement
Mick
I also sold my 2015 ZZR for a 2016 GTR, i changed because i was not comfy on the ZZR and also i felt like it wanted to be ridden faster and faster and i found myself with 8 points in no time, the GTR is far tamer than the ZZR but handles surprisingly well and the riding position is great.
you wont be sorry as the GTR is a cracking bike.

Congrats on both the sale of the ZZR and your new purchase! I hope the weather is good enough this weekend so you can properly test the GTR :punk:
Cheers

:agree:...good news, I'm sure you will be thrilled with your GTR
Did you do the deal at Autorama, and did you go for Silver ?
Morning,
I ended up with 12 points from the ZZR - 36 in 30, 36 in 30 and then 84 in 60 - managed to keep my licence due to a special reasons argument but as a brief it really isn't the way forward.
I did go with the silver at Autorama, and whilst I didn't want the top box - i just wanted the side panniers, for the cost of having the top box and sat nav holder i went for that aswell, and asked that they take it off and change the plate to the smaller one. I'll just keep the top box in the garage.
Mick
If I undestand correctly, being a "brief" and gaining speeding points wouldn't be exactly 'recommended'
