Noisy bike exhausts are or can be a right pain in the arse....now don't get me wrong I'm not a whinger (well maybe I am about some things) but some pipes on sports bike are annoyingly loud
Used to be a time and not that long ago, when plod pulled bikes over for illegal/noisy pipes, that doesn't seem to happen these days, so just what is the latest legal position ?
Steve and Nigel or even Howard what's your view :mfr_lol:
Its not much detailed but gov says this :
https://www.gov.uk/noise-pollution-road-train-plane/vehicle-noise-limits
So illegal, modified or noisy ones are not allowed
Ps same here on the continent but didnt saw one cop already who took action ...

Correctamundo....but importantly it's 'legal' Charlie, my point referred to those illegal and somewhat anti-social cans
In order for bikes to be "pulled" over there has to be some "plod" about, a rarity nowadays.
And it's a very subjective matter, what's loud to some may not be to other's, and it means the machine going for testing to have it's exhaust note measured etc, etc.
Back to my original point, the few "Plod" around probably have more important (to them) things to do.
Thank goodness we have PCSO's and HETOS :whistling:

Well Mr GTRpilot has most of it summed up ...... The simple fact that today in 2016 there are a fraction of the Traffic Officers that there were even 10 years ago. Of those officers on duty you'll actually have to find them out on the road as opposed to being in the office in custody in someones house taking statements in the mortuary in court .. anywhere other than out in the public eye. Of those officers I would find it hard to believe that any would really be bothered with loud exhausts ... for a fixed penalty non endorsable ... who says its loud and more importantly who says its TOO loud ?? ... and if you were pulled over then how is he going to prove it ? .... no Home Office approved kit in the car for that sort of shit. If you ride a clean tidy bike with good attitude and he checks all your details on the PNC etc and you come back with a clean bill of health then I would pretty much guarantee he's going to give you a wave and a "Just ride safely Sir". Your insurance company however may view alterations on a completely different level   Hope this helps. :police:

used to be the same for number plates that get interfered with, they were stopped regularly at one time, it is also an excuse to be stopped and be checked . people changing them to try and spell names ect, they don't seem to be getting stopped for that much now , due to the number of altered plates you see ,whilst out on the road I sit sometimes looking at some plates thinking what on earth are they trying to spell. then think well the made up name they are trying to spell must mean something to them !!!!!!!.
