One of the really hot days, and I chose not to wear a neck buff. Riding home one of the black and yellow striped airborne terrorists hits my neck and unbeknown to me drops down inside my jacket. 2 miles further down the road the little bazza comes to life and delivers multiple stings to my rib area. Motorists must have wondered what the hell was going on as this motorcyclist rides along beating his chest, abruptly pulls in and rips off his jacket and T shirt. Ho can something so small deliver that much pain! 😲
I had one come through the vent in my helmet.
The riding went a bit erratic till I could stop and remove the helmet he or she didn't want to come out via the visor :censored:.
Luckily no stings in the face area .
Nasty little buggers those wasps :hammer:
I once rode into a swarm of honey bees , never seen so much goo in my life I was covered helmet and jacket all stickey, felt like I was at the end of a porno movie , :mfr_lol:
Did you lick it off?
i have got into a bad habit of raising the screen to my desired position & riding with the visor on my full face helmet up,not a good idea,i had a small bee lodged between the check pad on the hemet and my cheek,by the time i managed to pull over it stung me,another time i had a very lucky escape with a hornet, since then my visor is fully closed,as for people wearing t shirts & shorts, that's another matter,i always wear leather or textile jacket's & trouser's,i have recently purchased a pair of ROAD SKIN black paranoid water proofed jean's with hip & knee armour fully lined with kevlar.i value my skin to much.
Never have, never will ride in anything but protective gear, same goes for any pillion I take, no gear, catch the bus. Seen to many results of folk that chose not to ride in protective kit because it was, to hot, can't afford it, I was just popping down to the shops, etc, etc.
But, everyone has their own choice and makes their own decisions.
Even protective kit has it's limitations.
GTRpilot, I can almost feel your pain and I am trying not to laugh, honest!
I know I am serious about wearing the best protective gear you can afford but I have to admit, I do ride with my visor up most of the time, well apart from travelling at motorway speeds. I do have a drop down sun visor though.
Here's what happened earlier in the year, I thought it was just a piece of straw flying across the road.
    Crikey ... that's HUGE !
Big enough to feed a family of 4 !
Bet that went with a bang :punk:
Nice Dragonfly catcher ya have there.
I hit a Cigale (Cicada) just south of Valence on the old motorway in the mid 80s on my way to the BolD'Or.
It hit just above the visor but I was motoring (120+) so I pulled lots of muscles in my neck.
It felt like I'd been shot or hit in the head with a baseball bat.
Had to wrap a rolled up towel round my neck to keep my head upright for the next 200 miles.
Did the rest of the race weekend at a much more sedate pace wearing a neck brace I got from the medical centre at Circuit Paul Ricard.
The ride home (Belgium) was painful and shoulder checks impossible but made it home.

Bloomin' heck!!!
Riding down the road and felt something hit me in the chest. Then I felt it crawling around and decided to hit it with my left hand. Big mistake. So here I am riding quite erratically pounding on my chest. No where to stop. Finally found a driveway and got stopped. Ripped off the jacket and a bloody Japanese hornet flew out. Didn't even have the decency to die after all that pounding. Stung me about 5 times... Decision time, should I keep riding or go home in case I have a reaction to it. Kept riding...no reaction except pain.
Jim, pounding on your chest while riding, I bet the girls were impressed, what were your shouting, "Me Tarzan" :mfr_lol:
There weren't any girls around so sadly it was wasted effort... :mfr_lol:
