Any recommended tools to get this undone :ohplease:, bent several coins so far, it just doesn't want to budge, thought I'd do this as a quick job :whistling: any ideas before I wreck something? :help:
Took it out to warm up the oil and got a wasp inside my jacket on the way back, now nursing multiple stings of the ribs :censored:
Not having a good day!!!
A large washer and vice grips.
Small bike spanner and grips, sorted. but it was on tight!
Somehow have a large blunt chisel which fits the slot spot on, used with an adjustable spanner it opens easy.
Alan
I'm the same as BigAl. Large cold chisel and adjustable spanner. :hammer:
put some lithium grease on the thread as the aluminium and steel like to fuse together

Thanks, you'd think Mr Kawasaki would have realised that 😕
Our cousins across the big pond use a silver dollar.
Don't know if you could google it to find the size/thickness

Our £2 coin comes in two parts, well it does now. The silver centre piece pops out real easy.
The wasp experience sounds a bit unpleasant too!

My tyre levers have got a rounded end at one end and these are a perfect fit
I use these now...

Very easy to get off with the tool provided by Murph. Before that I used a very large screw driver. These caps have o-ring seals. There's no need to put them on extremely tight.
I have just checked mine and had a wrestle with it.
Interestingly Kawasaki do not even mention a torque figure for either filler cap, they just say finger tight.

Mmmmmm...........But who's finger ? :whistling:
I changed mine for the same cnc aftermarket one that is used for the engine oil £20 for a pair .
That's really all you have to do.
It is worth putting a Projekt D filler cap on as a replacement when you've finally got the bugger out....looks better too
Lots on fleabay for about £10 free postage and lots of bling colours , and if you don't like the colour after a while use the oven cleaner trick to return it to natural aluminium and polish it its what I do .
Just had a look, and the final drive filler cap from my 1984 Z1100 fits the GTR. Only difference is it has an external 'rib' rather than the slot which makes for easier removal. My spare final drive is now wearing the one from the GTR.
As it is the same size but different part number to the engine filler cap, just about any old school Kawasaki oil filler cap would fit the GTR final drive.
Small open end spanner and water pump pliers
