I spoke to the owner and he told me he had owned the bike for 35+ years.....he added that when he bought it that it cost about 25% 0f the average U.K. house price at the time, he also said its worth about the same as 25% of  the average U.K house price today  (£50K) a nice appreciating asset

He also rides the bike most days of the year

I wonder what my GTR would be worth in 35 years  :mfr_lol:

Sadly do not think I have got 35 years left in me so the problem is academic  :help:  :help: however the Vincent will still be winning the appreciating asset race and the GTR will have been recycled into a BMW  :mfr_lol:  :mfr_lol:

This explains a lot. BMW are made from second hand parts?

Very nice but only 45bhp. The Black Shadow I rode many many years ago was a damned fine motorcycle. Comfy yet handled and stopped as well as any 70s Japanese bike. Not bad for a 50s bike.
As for the "Original GTR" comment, that would be the Vincent Black Prince.

Pulled up at a petrol station and parked next to this piece of German engineering from 1971... Had a chat with the owner; him and his Mrs were off camping in Wiltshire! (But they'd been all over Europe on it...)

Thought it may appeal to those who have been tempted over to the Dark Side.

Cheers
