Is that it? Come on explain more Mr Birdpilot?

Is or smoother?
Does it pull stronger?
What increase in BHP and Torque?
Is it easier to ride because of the above?

Tsk tsk

Yes,
Yes,
More than enough for my mediocre riding ability,
Definitely.

great result....its got me thinking, and I wonder where the nearest  re mapping facility is to me......think I'll have to make some enquires

Further thought... will you need to or have you notified your insurer ?

Rog

I had mine done as you know at around 9000 miles when it had "run in" and have been happy since, as for informing anyone I didn't, how anybody could work out it had been remapped I don't know, the standard map is for Europe and there rubbish fuel, is just been improved to make best use of our quality fuel 😀

Okay, so here's my experience. I am not an engineer, mechanic, expert in any way. I can change the oil, brake pads, plugs, coolant check tyre pressure and polish her.
Rode down this morning, arrived and he gave her a look over, asked me if she was standard, 'Yes'
Put her on the dyno for a base reading. Did 4 or 5 runs which I observed through the viewing window. Once a base line was established she was connected  to put in the new map, took about 25 minutes while she just ticked over.
Then once the new map was onboard and the bike had adjusted to it we did the next dyno run's, during which I was invited into the dyno room to observe.
After a few runs going up and down through the gears and giving it some oomph, tweaking where required, he was happy.
Took her off the Dyno, and told me to kit up and take her for a run, gave me directions around a course from the garage taking in single and dual carriageway.
He seemed satisfied with the grin on my face when I returned. His (to me) black magic had worked.
The result: Some gains in BHP and Torque at the top end. BUT the best bits, it's so smooth up through the gears, acceleration in all gears is much improved, the bike is more enjoyable and much more responsive. Not sure how to best describe it, just feels looser if that makes sense. The engine is doing what it was designed to do.
It was like riding back on a different bike. Not a cheap excursion, but it worked for me and my bike. In all took about 3 hours.

Thanks guys for your feedback.

In fairness I haven't got any problem with the performance of my bike which has now done about 4000 miles from new. In fact I would say that this GTR is by far the best one I've had, by quite a margin, I don't know why that is except that I  am under the impression that some gearing changes have been made to this latest model

So the jury is out for the time being, as I said the bike is great, but could be even better I suppose. ..........hhmmmmnn decisions  decisions

EDIT:
As i thought the only gearing change for the latest model is to the first gear only which is now 3.538 (46/13) compared to previous models 3.333 (50/15).I dont really know what the means in real time.....no doubt someone more technically educated than me (every one else) will be along to advise

IF you had a major engine problem, then Kawasaki may well ask for the ECU and if they found it had been remapped then any warranty would quietly evaporate.

A guy I know bought a 636, new, from Bournemouth Kawasaki.  All sewrviced etc by then.  he rode it like he stole it and one day dropped a valve.  Eventually they agreed toan engine rebuild, but not before demanding the ECU to have a look at, because, in their view, the fault was very unusual

Warranty expired a long time ago on my bike, even though I had it done within the first two years but didn't care.

Transformed the bike.

Mines a 2011 bike, think I might be flying solo with regards to a warranty claim  :whistling: plus I can barely ride it like I own it, never mind like I stole it.

What Big Al said
My understanding is that dealers cannot access the ECU, only the factory, and if the ECU detects a factory code being entered it reverts to it's original map.
Any question's please read my initial disclaimer, I am not a mechanic, engineer etc
