Title: Grip Puppies.
Post by: GTRpilot on August 02, 2016, 10:28:45 AM
Thinking of getting some for my forthcoming tour to reduce tingly fingers, any good?

I scrounged some from a member here a few weeks ago, transformed the feel of my bars, I have large hands and the increased diameter is a bonus as well.

Try them.

They are excellent and can prevent exactly what you have described. I don't have them on the Beemer but I had them on both my GTRs.

I would imagine that they would be unnecessary on the k 16 as it is smoothness personified.

I have used Grip Puppies for some years now, and can totally recommend them

They don't adversely affect the heated grips either, plus if like me, you have big mitts they are a real bonus

Use very soapy water on the inside to slide them on...

I must remember when I meet Debs again to check out her soapy wet puppies.

😳

But being old I might forget.

Glad they work for you Alan. It really depends on the size of your hands. Thats sounds a bit wrong after mentioning soapy wet puppies  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

They work well, need a new set, mine disintegrated and I have now removed them.
One note, don't extend them onto the bar end weight, I made that mistake on the left and it resulted in the weight rusting underneath, only found this out when I removed them.....

You have hit the nail on the head!

Joking aside I used to get a numb right hand on the GTR whereas I never have on the Beemer.

I'm just waiting for the smutty comments now.  :mfr_lol:

The looks indifferent, they really are the mutts as far as I'm concerned, one of the cheapest and most effective mods that I have done on numerous bikes.
Before you go, try the ScottOil Crampbuster, I love it! Fits over the Grip puppies without issue, when you're on the boring / continual speed bits just on it maintain flick it round till your wrist just lies on it maintaining throttle position and pressure, and release your grip!

Flick it down when you need it out the way, really is a great help when my hand / wrist starts to suffer, would go cruise control route but an expensive mod for the amount I'd need it!

Ride safe!

Think they're about £9, worth every penny in my view. Grip pups help with carpet tunnel pain, but the cramp buster is just brilliant, readily available most dealers. Gonna be at Demon Tweeks trying some datona boots tomorrow if you fancy a ride out?

Odd jobs to do this morning, as well a getting the gtr air filter out, so reckon it'll be early afternoon, hopefully 1400 - 1500.

Really bad day meant couldn't get to Tweeks at Wrexham, plan to  visit there tomorrow,  aiming for 10:30, if you fancy it might see you there.

Hi peeps, I am new to this forum and ride a GTR1400 2010.

With reference to tired throttle hand, I can recommend this mod - http://www.murphskits.com/catalog/docs/Rostra%20install.htm - I did it to mine a couple of years ago and cost me around £145 all in and the instructions are pretty good.
Got electronic cruise can set from 30mph upward, a real bonus on a long trip.
The only alteration I made was made the throttle stop arm a little longer so as made less sensitive at lower speeds.
If anyone needs info let me know.
