Hi Guys n Gals
Well, ive got the various bits n bobs back from powder coat. wheels, hangars etc have gone from very nasty chipped and horrid black to a nice gold with Lacquer.
With the bike being Titanium Gray I'm hoping these small bits will complement it just right. Not too much, not too little.. heres hoping !!
will post a pikkie when its all back together...
Stoli
Looks good.
Looking forward to seeing final result :punk:
You can't beat a bit of bling! :mfr_lol:
I'm hoping the Gold will complement the "glittery brown" really nicely. ive been careful not to go too over board and only done the bits that were tatty anyway.
i should be able to post up a progress pikkie Monday
That's got me thinking now, dammit it might mean me dismantling parts as well to get them black.
Alan
gold wheels would look ace with black bike !!!
Sounds great....look forward to seeing the finished article

Nice. Can't wait to see it finished.
What a tit I feel...
All was going so well. Wheels rebuilt. Looking good. Front in. Done
Rear ... Struggled but got it in and then went to bolt in the abs sensor ... Where's the abs ring!!!
On the bloody garage wall where it's all nice n shiny after a spray. !
Tit !!
 :agree: :mfr_lol: Happens to all of us...thought I was the only one.
It was a case of close garage door. Crack a beer and repeat ... What a titi...
Hi,how much did it cost to have them powder coated ?
I have a mate that does it so I get mates rates. Job lot 130
He did my GSX14 wheels one off in blue chrome. They look stunning.
Question.
Did you remove the week bearings before powder coating as it would have to be baked in the oven for a while?
How did you fall the holes where bolts slide through or threaded parts to stop powder coating inside reducing diameter? Small rubber bangs perhaps but would they melt?
Thanks
Alan
Can't really understand post. Maybe auto correct on?
I left the Cush rubbers in. Took a chance. Rear wheel in just fine so all looks good. All bearings replaced n done. Greased n free etc.
I'm just putting fairing back together then wash n stand back n look.
Don't think I can post images from phone tho

Damm auto correct.
What I meant to say was did you leave the wheel bearings in the wheel while the powder coating was taking place? Or did you remove them before?
How did you block up the holes you did not want powder coating to cover?
Alan
Wheel totally stripped apart from rubbers.
I have another issue now in that F1 was in dash in 1st start. Turned off n now it's totally dead !!
Bottoms
In a perverse sort of way I like them.
Wheels look great, for me I'll need to see the other components on the bike, so I'm looking forward to your final pictures

Give me 2 secs and i will pop some up...
well... here we go..
i love the wheels - not sure about the hangars tho... opinions before i make them black again....??
Wheels look superb, The other parts look much better than I thought they would...nice job
Yeah I agree with OC, that looks awesome.
Think so !!
i thought the hangars looked WAY WAY too blingy.!!!!
i am also now having some pinstriping done. the 4 lines on the Panniers will be gold and the 4 fins on the inner fairing will have a gold pinstripe too. I'm hoping it will even things up a tad
Wheels are great, now I know what mine will look like, can't make my mind up on the hangers etc, one time I think there good then I look again and I am not so sure.
I may get the diff housing powder coated as well, I shall study the pictures more.
Good job.
Alan
one thing... it does sort of grow on you... i really didn't like the hangars ... thought NO, looks naff...
but then ive looked a few times since and its sort of growing. i think with the pin stripes it will complete it....
thanks for feedback tho...
Stoli
Little update. Ive contacted a guy that does Pinstriping and I'm having the 4 lines on the Panniers pinstriped Gold as well as the 4 "gills" on the fairing in Gold too. i think that this will even things up a bit....
should be able to post a Pikkie up tomorrow night or Weds morning..
BTW - i chose gold as i thought it would go with the brown really well. in the main they do but the Hangars need a bit of emphasis taken off them which I'm hoping the Pinstriping will do...
heres hoping....
All put together ?? .... really nice
yep...
just some Pinstriping to do....
Wow. That is very nice.
thank you....

Yeah like it...looks good.
Think yer right the Gill and rib in gold will balance it up nicely.
Gold works so well with the bikes colour.........WICKED :punk:
Nice. Its surprising how many colours go well with gold.
I wish I could post pics from an iPhone. Pinstripes done and I gotta say it looks fantastic. I'll post up tomorrow 1st thing...

We are all eager to see the results :punk:
I think it will go down well. It's really changed the look. Just a little think like 8 gold stripes.
I'll post up at 08.30 from work ....
well... its all done and for me the Pinstripes i had done REALLY set this off. it looks great in the flesh i think and its really lifted the paint and freshened it all up.
Anyone thinking of having this done - go for it ! if you are nearish the Cambridge area then contact Mackie at Cambridge Pinstriping - hes a really nice guy, he drove to me to do this ! he does air brushing too.. not an advert as he's a friend or mate... i contacted him out the blue via email Monday and he was at mine after work Tuesday!

That's really balanced the look :punk:
thank you, i think so too. I'm also getting the Phoenix done properly by him too as at the moment its just a decal - he will be painting that by hand to its the same shade.
really chuffed....

Now that's going to put the icing on the cake
The gold works so well with the base colour of the bike and I know what you meant about the hangers just looking a little bit stand outish..........but the master stroke of the pin strip has brought it into one beautifully balanced result.........really chuffed you say...........I'm smiling and liking it and it's not my ride :mfr_lol:
So your thoughts on the handlebars, grab rail and swing arm..................or is it perfection as is ?
that's it really as far as what i want to do. ive only done this to freshen it up. the wheels were very worn and grey and chipped so i'd promised the bike i would do a little fettle after the 2 trips this year. Hard ride to Barcelona and back in 4 days to the Catalan GP and then 7 days in Europe 2 up. it then went in the garage unwashed and was torn down for a good clean and freshen. now its time to leave as it and ride...
i cannot lie... my REAL passion bike for tweaks is my 03 GSX1400. this is the one that gets the Cash thrown at it. its got more mods and bits than i can count and for me is an old bus but... its stunning. 107ft lb at the rear wheel and 120bhp feels great and with the looks, for me that's my Gal..
One off Blue Chrome powder coat wheels. Metchamex swing arm. Wavies all round with the rear being a Saw Blade with "S" logo lazer cut. Very rare belly pan with spots. de-badged and chromed 6 pot callipers. Shorty/longy adjustable levers that also adjust for span and flip up.
Clocks/Dials that have been modded with LED's to show gear position behind the rpm No's 1 to 6. (YouTube GSX1400 gear position indicator)
Billet window'd Clutch casing with Billet Clutch End Plate from USA in red and blue. Window'd end crank casing. Billet clutch casing. billet starter casing. HEL lines throughout. Twin Bates. PC111 and custom Map. Full Yoshi 4 into 1
plus lots more i cant remember..
sorry ive put this in here.. i feel all dirty now...
Loving the pinstriping that's something I would like on mine but with crash frames fitted unsure if you would see them as nicely as on yours you would only see the panniers

I'm not so sure.. i bet you would see them.. he started off with a thin stripe on the fairin, stood back and had a look... bit wider... look... then sent for the whole of the outside of the stripe.. perfect.
plus don't forget there are 4 each side.. its far far nicer live - honestly
Did you have the panniers done, or should I get my glasses?
Lovely Gixxer

light silver perhaps? a nice deep metallic red may work too.. just enough contrast to be able to see it
