Title: Go Pro mounting.
Post by: GTRpilot on July 28, 2016, 11:00:13 AM
Thought I'd try and mount my Go pro for our forthcoming tour in Spain. Be nice to capture some of the fantastic views going through the Picos mountains.
So any ideas on where and how? Ta as usual.

I mount mine using a RAM ball mount onto a handle bar handy stick from ProjektD, others (including myself in the past) have mounted the camera under a rear view mirror, the sticky mounts are very strong....just don't forget to invert the image on the camera first

Handy stick looks good, thanks. does the screen get in the way of that?

Mine is stuck on under the NS mirror, fed from the USB socket direct.

no, its clear of the screen, and the quality of the 'handy'  is very good, plus it can be mounted to either left or right side bar end

I lost my Hero 3 Black last august on a bunch of balloons (27 actually). Make sure you fit an extra tether.

Just saying!

I take it it's filming through the screen, does this affect it at all?

Has anyone mounted it just above the headlight on the black plastic in the 'V' of the bottom of the screen?
Just wondering if that would work. The option of helmet mounted doesn't really appeal, but would probably be a good position for view.

Actually when the screen is clean it doesn't spoil the film

Okay thanks, looks like that may be the answer.

Having looked at different options, (can't believe Go Pro don't have a specific fitting to mount for bikes), going to opt for the chest harness, see how it goes.

Update, just got a wrist strap that you can attach a go pro to, good for filming by the pillion and can mount it on your upper arm, see how that goes

I've attached a picture of my set up....my sat nav is currently mounted where the GoPro is in the picture, its very versatile and only takes a moment to swap back if needed

You can see the Handle bar handy stick from ProjektD on the right side bar...the GoPro is attached onto a 360 swivel which is easily rotated

Looks good , tried the chest harness, lovely view of mainly my tank bag  :whistling: so that's out. Is your Go Pro sat on a ball ram mount into the extension clamp or just a Go pro mount wedged into the extension? Gonna bite the bullet and get one of those handle bar sticks from projectD, best solution I think.

it's mounted on a RAM ball mount at each end of the extension
