We are due to go to Limoges on the bike on saturday for a week ! What do you guys think ? The missus is a bit concerned and quite rightly I think.
Concerned about the queues to get to the other side of the channel or the terrorism threat?

Both really.
Going on the Eurotunnel train and at the moment they are saying everything is operating to schedule and there are no delays.
The route I plotted was via Rouen and then Le Mans then onto Limoges.
I went to Limoges May last year via Portsmouth to Le Havre on the overnight ferry.
I don't think there is anything to be worried about.
:censored: em and live your life. :mfr_lol:
I agree Debs but having the missus on the back puts a different perspective on it ! I'll just ditch taking the camera gear and get all tooled up with some self protection ! :gun_bandana: :gunsmilie: :2guns:
Go. Enjoy. Worry not.
Give yourself plenty of time to book in to the Chunnel (both sides) and get through security.
Saturdays during the school holidays are always *very* busy.
Cheers
Paul B.
PS: Watch out for speed traps in the "slow-down" zones before the toll boths, if using the péage.
Cheers Paul
Saturday Chunnel booked for 05.20am we are staying down in folkestone on the friday night to make it easier as on saturday the journey to our accommodation is 580mile in one hit.Ok for me as I do a lot of miles both on the bike and the car.Did Dover to Edinburgh and back to Dover in one day on Blackbird once a few year ago !
We were over inMont St Michael in april on the FJR,that was the missus first long trip and she loved it.FJR now gone and replaced with the GTR.
Roll on friday cant wait !
We're off tomorrow night. Can't see the point in worrying, do that and you'll never go anywhere. Just go and enjoy the trip, you've got the bike for a trip on the continent.
Just go for it, otherwise you'll regret it, and dont forget a report with pictures on your return is compulsory
Dont go to churches... Cfr today :undecided:
Ps dont go to firework too, underground, train, football, restaurant, big mall, places with lot of people...
Oooh the hell, they always will find new things... Next can prob be Drones, bikes loaded with sentex, scooters, parachutists, etc etc etc...
Really, on the continent, we are not really afraid, only to crowded places will have some less people... When or where one or two fools will appear, cant know anyway... Do we have to live as prisoners...?
Guess not...
Like the terrorist in Nice, who lived long time in France, there are such people also in the UK, so its 100% safe nowhere , even at home
Pity that... It became a poor world . Anyway i wont let my baby standing in the garage :punk:
Have a nice trip !
we were talking about this exact thing last night , in future I think I will always use the hull ferry crossing on a friday night and avoid the chunnel, (hull is only 90 mins from us ) you just never know these days when its about to kick off with a surge of migrants, french lorry strikes , border control ect .
Im still comfortable with going to france and we always avoid the large cities anyway
I with 4 other friends fly into beauvais on sat 30 then its onto belgium holland and germany for 7 days ,not hiding f*** them got to live.
Just back from France and we used Eurotunnel. Jusy make sure you get to the terminal at least 2 hours before your check in time. We had plenty of police visible at the terminal but no problems.
On the way back they had a diversion to the check in, but it was just a matter of going up one junction and then coming back on the other carriageway.
I would go for it and enjoy your trip....

I've used the chunnel in the past and found it to be very bike friendly, however I have used the Hull Zeebrugge ferry on numerous occasions for my bike forays into Europe and it's superb, for me once the bike is secured your holiday starts
You will have a great time!

What a nightmare. Was there a happy ending to the tale
Ha ha yeah it was a nightmare at the time. When I got the bike back i found the fault myself after a out 3 hours. It was a corroded wire inside the loom.

Anyway Trev..... I'm sure you won't need the garage in Limoges. From the little bit of the town centre I saw, it looked very nice with the river running through it, so you will have a great time. I would recommend you visit this place https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g488286-d304759-Reviews-Oradour_sur_Glane_old_town-Oradour_sur_Glane_Haute_Vienne_Limousin.html as it's very thought provoking and interesting to see some of the history of WW2.

A very thought provoking place to visit. The place still feels eerie after all these years.
