we get lots of military aircraft flying here in North Yorkshire, I'm no expert but I've seen Eurofighters, Tornados and I'm sure I've seen F35s too, but recently I have definitely seen several pairs of A10 tank busters overhead, and i do know they are a serious bit of kit
We also see Chinook helicopters and other types which I don't recognise...it's fascinating to see them

As yet they haven't been disposing of local traffic at least I haven't seen any damage :mfr_lol:

Love that sound they make when they let rip with the guns. :mfr_lol:
brrrtttttt....the engines sound as if they have a whistle too
Been "attacked" while on exercise by these, the first thing we heard were the whine of the engine as they came in, that would of course been to late, also watched a live fire demo from the A10's a few years back, you don't want to be on the receiving end of one of those!
Big debate in the States on what to do with this fleet. The AF is being run by idiots these days..

The money spent on these things would be better spent on the health service and education.
Nah, that isn't going to happen...at least in the US.

A cutting from this weeks local newspaper confirms my suspicions
I've never heard of the V22 Osprey and had to google it

It must be mating season for the V22. Flying very low and loud. Shaking the pictures on the walls. They're training out of AP Hill here in VA and they can't be more than several hundred feet off the ground.
be careful not to leave your Conniein the driveway Jim, they may be looking for some target practice
BTW, aren't those A10s noisy buggers
I've only seen them from a distance. Haven't been close enough to actually hear them.

They are a very job specific aeroplane, unique in design concept and execution
They are very quite, designed to have a long loiter time in hostile air space without attracting attention. Then fly very low into target, their airframe designed to withstand attack from below.

Waste of money in my opinion. Spend on health service and education
We've had the Osprey here in Norfolk for around a year now, although I have seen previously them in Japan as well, so not a total surprise. Usually they operate at low level and high speed in this area, I suspect in co - operation with the local army barracks that is only a few miles away. They certainly sound (and look) odd!
Come to Suffolk on your motorcycle and the roads around Wattisham, Sudbury and Long Melford ... and be used as target practice!
It's not uncommon to find an Apache helicopter following you. A bit un-nerving knowing they are probably locking onto you!
