Title: Rusty strap
Post by: O.C. on July 17, 2016, 11:42:10 AM
The cross strap to which the rear light cluster mounts is obviously prone to rusting, (under the top box rack) here's mine after less than 6 months and 3000 miles

So I removed it, cleaned it up and painted it, unfortunately my tin of Hammerite Satin Black was past its use by date so I used some Multi Surface Paint (MSP) that I had left over from when I painted the Rev Shed doors, I brush painted it hence the average finish, but at least its mainly out of site and shouldn't rust again.

I have to say it's annoying after such a short time that this should happen, I'll be having a word with the good folk at Kawasaki  :2guns:

Probably would have rusted through by now if it was a BMW! Or been recalled!

PRD, firstly BMW would never allow that to happen on one of their flagship tourers.

OC let's hope it hasn't spread to the actual bike frame!  :sweatdrop:

The pure joy of riding a GTR enables one to overlook such a small blemish Steve,

I'd be more concerned if I had the thought of a faulty gearbox in the back of my mind though  :mfr_lol:

Checked mine today and good as new except for dirt which was easily sorted with a rag and some GT85. Not a spec of rust after 21,000 miles.
